Excellent First Experience w/ Sharpening Puck
I had been using a WorkSharp diamond file - style sharpening tool with two different grits and mini 'strop.' After taking a Pathfinder Basic class with Dave Canterbury and realizing that diamond is eating away my blades, I opted for this in combination with a DIY strop I made. This stone is awesome, and certainly easy to use. I have sharpened both my smaller pack axe and my felling axe; my Mora Garberg (knife) and my parang (basically a machete). No issues. I even used it in place of sand paper when wood working the board / handle for my strop. I will say, the printed design has faded and now been replaced by a rusty orange after sharpening my rusty parang. Not that I care, but it happened. :3 I imagine it would fade away like the print over time, but honing with the strop should be all I need as long as I don't chip my blades, so orange it will stay.

Excellent honing stone for axes and machetes
This sharpening stone puts a great edge on my axes, quite surprised on how easy it is to use, the grits on both sides are perfectly matched-not too coarse and not too fine, its a great stone to bring along in the field. The rough side cuts well- I managed to put a very sharp working edge on a new (dull) coldsteel trail boss, raised that burr faster than i expected, the finer grit side knocked off that burr and made that edge hair popping sharp. I also touched up the edge on an rmj eagle talon tomahawk and again was very pleased with the result.

I can't believe I used to use wet stones all these years
I use this stone to sharpen my kitchen knives. It took me exactly 30-45 SECONDS to sharpen each knife. I used to soak the wet stones and spent hours trying to sharpen my knives because insane people on Internet put reviews and videos that tell you that this is how you are supposed to sharpen your knives. Please stop this insanity, use this stone, no water, no oil, no mess, just perfectly sharpen kitchen knives in seconds.

Very impressive stone
This stone works great, I've use other stones and they don't compare to this one. Easy to use and fits well in the hand. I will not buy any other stone except this one.

Toss this in your pack; it’ll sharpen blades quickly
I don’t know what it is, but this puck has sharpened my axe, fixed blade and folding knives better than regular stones, and even my diamond hone. I wouldn’t suggest it for beginners just because of its size; in sharpening if you’re not paying attention, you could slice yourself quite easily. I just use water on both sides of the puck, and 2-5 minutes on each side sharpening gives almost a razor’s edge.

shavable sharp? probably not.
ive seen other buyers say that theyve been able to make their axe/hatchet shave with this.. i have not been able to accomplish this feat without the aid of a strop. this isnt a big deal, this puck is great regardless, it definitely does the job, and does it about 10x better than the lansky puck.
