it's cheap, it's not amber and the scorpion is genuine (which could be an issue to some people)
I already knew that it wouldn't be real Baltic amber as i've purchased the genuine amber before and it's really, really expensive, more so when you have an inclusion even as small as a gnat.I intended mounting this in a nice piece of wood that would be shaped to be used as a gear knob for the car, this was scuppered when the item came as it has a hole drilled through the top (narrow end) supposedly for attaching it to a necklace or for hanging up.....so i'll have to cut and reshape this area and then polish it up a bit ( this could prove harder than anticipated as the item is just plastic)The plastic itself is fairly clear so the inclusion shows quite well, there are a few little areas of trapped air which do not take away from the overall effect. It has a decent overall amber colouring (which in fact makes it look even more "fake" as true amber is a collection of different colours, densities and textures. There seems to be some extra little bits of red (ish) coloured material (could be just dye smears) included .... possibly to give the impression of realism ... it looks "sort of OK" ... but still doesn't make it look any more realistic in my opinion. For three quid it's worth it to be honest ... ideal as a little paperweight, or you can use the drilled hole to hang it somewhere where it'll catch the light (could look effective)IMPORTANT BIT:The scorpion in this particular bit of amber coloured plastic is real (as a 45 year experienced amateur taxonomist i can take an educational guess at "Mesobuthus" genus .... possibly species "martensii" ..... or the Chinese Golden scorpion to give it a simple common name). The specimen in my plastic looks to be an adult male. So, even though this particular scorpion genus is generally common and widespread, If conservation and/or animal rights etc is of a concern to you then this item isn't for you.

Nice ornament.
I can see this is fake and not amber. I wish it was real amber, I would be paying a lot more. The scorpion 🦂 looks real. Nice ornament.

Disappointing. Took a long time to arrive, poor finish (lumpy resin). Not worth buying
