U.S. two CD edition of this album from the actress and vocalist including a bonus CD that contains a Dub mix of the album. Produced by Jones and Ivor Guest, her first release in 20 years, Hurricane has received widespread praise in the U.K. and Europe where it was released in 2009. The tracks "Williams' Blood" and "Corporate Cannibal" have emerged as hits as has the new video for "Corporate Cannibal" directed by Nick Hooker.

Like a hug from and old friend!
Grace Jones, danceable,rockable,pop reggae at its very best. The production and musicianship is equal to the Compass Point Sessions. This is really cool music. The extra dub cd is mostly instrumentals of the albums songs with Grace using her voice sparingly. It's a trip all in itself, what a deal, 2for1. The songs are mostly sociological rather than romanantic. Even so they are great. "Isn't it a shame, how you became, the Devil in my life", twisted!! Corporate Cannibal, I still haven't figured it out yet. It's either another twisted love song or a commentary on the grotesque capitalistic adventurism so prevalent in our world today, Or maybe both. Just be glad it's a cd, she really can't jump out of the speakers and Git You! Ha ha ha ha ha. This Is, great openning number indicative of the truly wonderful album to follow. I see why this one has received no negative votes in the reviews. Williams Blood is an almost gospel song with a fade out of her singing the openning to Amazing Grace accapela. Let me tell you, this lady has class and style and a marvelous sense of humour. Just look at that Grace in hyper-drive cover art. This cd is the best of the new decade.

Just like hurricane winds...she blew we away with this album!
To my surprise this album hooked me from the beginning and I consider it one of the best, if not "the best" of her career! The only thing I can complain about is that I didn't like the "dub" versions on the second CD because there are barely any vocals and I expected a more dub into "dance" club versions, but it doesn't happen. If you are not into empty dub beats just buy the regular single CD with the nine songs and not the double album because my dub CD will just stay in the case gathering mold while the primary CD is pumping tunes frequently!

Awesome Grace Jones album!
It was on sale and I had just purchased a few other Grace Jones albums so after previewing the songs, I bought it. Sometimes the previews do NOT do an album justice. This is the best Grace Jones album I have purchased so far. Stand out tracks: 1. This Is, 2. Williams Blood, 4. I'm Crying (Mother's Tears) 5. Well Well Well, 7. Love You To Life, 8. Sunset Sunrise, 9. Devil In My LifeThe other two are good also but I liked these seven the best.{Did NOT care for the DUB album. too cheesey sounding for my taste.}

Buy the regular Hurrican album and skip the dubs.
I think I really only liked one of the dubs (Well,Well,Well Dub) because the rest are all really sparse even for a dub mix. It's mostly just different arrangements and snippets of vocals here and there with a whole lot of echo thrown in! I really liked the original songs and had high hopes for these. Oh well. Apparently these came with the original Hurricane album as a bonus CD. Unfortunately I had to buy them!

Exceptional Album
My first introduction to this album was viewing the video for "Corporate Cannibal" which, if you have not seen, I would also highly recommend. I have always been a fan of Grace Jones and am extremely impressed with this album. There are many nuggets of wisdom woven into the lyrics of these songs, and Grace takes you as the listener on a real emotional roller coaster. The opening song, "This Is" starts with the line "This is my voice, my weapon of choice" and her voice is indeed a weapon that pierces your mind, heart, and soul. Each song is great and the flow of the album is wonderful. It starts pretty intensely with "This Is" then mellows slightly with "Willam's Blood" which is an autobiographical song about her relationship with her family and an affiliation with the artistic versus the religious side of the family. "Corporate Cannibal" is a chilling song, evil to its core, just like the type of "legalized criminal" it describes. "I'm Crying (Mother's Tears)" is about her relationship with her mother and is a very heartfelt, emotional song that may well bring tears to your eyes. "Well, Well, Well" is the shortest song on the album, yet very powerful with a message of trying to make sense of one's own life in a crazy world. Next is the album's title song, "Hurricane" which is also rather dark, though not so much as "Corporate Cannibal." In this song, Grace describes herself as a hurricane "ripping up trees" which is very exemplary of the entirety of this album. "Love you to life" is another heartfelt song about personal relationships, where as "Sunset Sunrise" addresses humanity's relationship to the natural world. The final song "Devil in My Life" is a great wrap up to this powerful album. It is another darker tune, and a perfect ending to one of the best albums I have heard in a long, long time. I would very highly suggest this album, and further suggest that you listen to it on a system with good base, and with some ear buds, and over and over again. Another strength of this album is that the more you listen to it, the more you hear.

The BEST from Grace
Perhaps the BEST from Grace! I love Grace Jones and everything she has done has been powerful and made a statement, but this collection of songs is as personal as it gets and EVERYTHING is nothing short of perfection! LOVE it!! The second Cd, the 'dub' version is just stunning!! It's again, the best from grace!

say your grace
its been a long time since I heard her music.in fact slave to the retum was the first time I saw her video in 1985.and I like her music and style ever since.even after all these years and at 64 she still got her unique style and distinctive alluring voice.witch make you wont to listen to her all the more.she is one of the greats and ahead of her time.and the music industry was not ready for her unique talent.and sadly to say corporate cannibal is still not ready for her grace.but wend I saw her new release it was like a prayer has been anserd.hurricane you wont be desopointed.

Fantasic, as Always
The first studio album from Grace Jones in nearly two decades, and she hadn’t missed a beat. The musical landscape changed drastically in nearly twenty years between BULLETPROOF HEART and HURRICANE but most of Grace’s music had a timelessness about it, and most of this material would not have seemed out of place on her Eighties albums, yet it seems fresh even now in 2020.Most of her best songs paid tribute to her Jamaican heritage and the opening track THIS IS LIFE exemplifies that, as does LOVE YOU TO LIFE. These songs plus WELL WELL WELL would have fit perfectly on the NIGHTCLUBBING album.CORPORATE CANNIBAL is the most modern-sounding song—and scary, too. Before I had heard any of Grace’s music in the Eighties—this harsh, intimidating sound is what I expected all of her output to be, based on her ball-breaking Glamazon persona. Also, MOTHER’S TEARS is haunting and the title song is absolutely hypnotic.Grace always chose her material well and it has aged beautifully and most of it, save for the first few albums from the Disco heyday, does not sound dated at all today. Despite the long gap, this album fits perfectly within her catalog. It does not sound over-produced like a lot of Millennial music. Grace is a true artist. If she never records anything else, this album is a fitting swan song to a fabulous career.
