This book has changed my outlook on dating, relationships, and how I intend to live the rest of my life. When coupled with the quiz you can take online, this offers powerful insights into the best ways to stay connected with that special someone. It's truly powerful stuff. The religious pieces can be distracting (if you aren't a religious person anyway), but that does not outweigh the value of this book. Seriously - you need this book.

The book is very interesting. It is easy to read, and it has many concrete examples. People speak different love languages, so our communication with them about an emotional need to love and feel loved is limited, until we learn to speak to them in a way they can understand. Speaking about emotional needs to love and to feel loved is similar to speaking in a foreign language to someone whose love language is different.

Chapman truly walks you through the journey of becoming a fruitful and loving individual in all aspects of our relationships whether it be with our friends, family, coworkers, significant other, or children. He tells true stories and gives helpful advice on what to say, what not to say, and reflecting questions to ask ourselves as we grow in God's name. This was centered on Christian values to love one another so expect sporadic scripture throughout; this isn't scripture centered, however. They were moreso the icing on the cake.

Excellent book with a lot of good advice. I simply wish the author would leave his religious leanings, and personal beliefs about human relationships that are solely informed by his religious beliefs at the door. It oversimplifies human interaction and the wide breadth of human experience to narrow it to a Christian perspective. But that doesn't diminish that the meat of the ideas presented are great, and applicable to everyone, regardless of personal beliefs.

I've been following the 5 Love Languages Couples Edition and I love it so I bought this one for my sister who is single. She is getting a lot of use out of it. This was recommended by my therapist and I now see why. I have a much better understanding of what I expect out of my marriage and what my husband expects. It's amazing to learn that instead of treating people the way you want to be treated should instead be treating people the way THEY want to be treated. That's the key and this book unlocks the door to that and many more secrets that everyone who wants to experience the fullness of love needs.

I bought this book for my son's girlfriend. I have read the original and found it to be very enlightening. I never had someone to talk to about love and relationships when I was young, so it was a learning process. I wish I would have had this book then. I don't want anyone else to go through that. I wanted his girlfriend to understand who she is and how she loves and wants to be loved, so this made the perfect birthday gift. She read the book in one day and bought other books by Gary Chapman. She said it helped her understand many things and she even had my son take the quiz. :) I hope this helps strengthen their relationship. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone, whether you had a positive role model or not.

I am 46 years old and newly single after being married what seems my whole life! I was married my whole adult life and did not know much about what I really needed in a relationship and heard about this series. When researching the this series I thought they only covered Marriage, however much to my surprise they had a singles edition and love it! I have recommended it to all of my single friends all the time! A must read if you are starting over again in life to know EXACTLY what you need to have a successful relationship and not have to go through date after date to find it!

I wish I had read this 2 marriages ago. There was so much information in this book that I never took into consideration in my past relationships; both love and friendships. I immediately to put into practice the principles learned and have seen drastic changes in myself and those around me. I've purchased several to give to friends and told them to read chapter 11 twice. Having scripture and other reference materials relating to what I was absorbing was not only helpful, but encouraging. The most important part of the read for me was the "Things To Think About" at end of every chapter, they provided talking points and more meaningful conversation between my friends and I. A must read!!!

Brilliant book !if u wana improve your relationships or just understand people and love more this is the book to get for singles.basically breaks down different personality's love needs so you can work out past relationships is whether person your dating or people around love language is ie.quality time.physical touch.acts of service.gifts.affirmations.everyone falls into at least one of these categories.books deffo worth a buy and it gives you different few points on relationship scenarios.enjoy readers! Gary Chapman knows what he's talking about would read more of his books intuitive and insightful.

This book is for those who 1) acknowledge that everyone is unique and, 2) would like to improve their relationships with family/friends/partners etc. by communicating love is a meaningful way. 🌸🌸 I loved it. Happy reading........

Recommended by my therapist and passed around to everyone I know when I was finished! This is a short book, and it has its downsides, but the overall message is one of those things that sounds obvious once you know it but isn't. Downsides: A lot of the content is anecdotal, which my roommate found tiresome fairly quickly A lot of the content is also repetitive - the book could probably be 1/3 as long and still get the point across. But hey, repetition is key, and it's an easy read so I'm not complaining. Depending on who you are, you'll feel differently about the next point. Mr. Chapman is/was a Christian pastor and he uses examples from his time as a minister throughout. A couple of the chapters and plenty of paragraphs throughout the book are also fully-focused on the Christian perspective of the topic. If you're me (a disaffected Catholic) this probably doesn't bother you too much. If you're my family (more in love with Jesus every day) then it's a pleasant surprise that you probably love. And, if you're my atheist roommates, it'll either turn you off or activate your rage-mode for a little while. That said, the message is the same, whoever you are, and all involved parties agreed that this book really opened their eyes to how loving relationships work. I highly recommend this book, then, to absolutely anybody who feels the slightest concern that they might not be giving or receiving love in the best possible way.

Received yesterday very happy with the purchase with what I have read so far-I purchased a used copy and I can't even tell-It seems new.
