How did I go this long without this on vinyl?

This album is amazing. I remember going to see The Strokes right after this album came out in Dallas and its still the best concert i have ever been to. This album gets some hate from Strokes fans and critics but it is an amazing album. Every song is grooving.

No, I shouldn't be reviewing this album because I don't know how to talk about it. And I think my interpretation of some of the songs may be off, given the outerspace theme people talk about (I totally miss that in the album aside from the title). Suffice to say I am a huge fan this one. Strokes albums never got me the first or second time listening to them. My brother kind of force fed the first album to me when I'd ride in the car with him. I think the second album I bought even though I was burned out on hear about the band, deciding initially on a few songs were worth listening to. Then I liked more. Then I loved the second album completely ("I thought I told you this world is not for you" was probably my in for connecting to the album). So I think listening the Strokes albums becomes rewarding once you find your "in." The key to unlock its riches. "Fear of Sleep" was probably my in on this one just because of the manic level it slow reaches for. Yeah, I can see how this album might be more difficult for casual listeners. It takes its time getting to its hooks. Its themes probably more mature than what people want from a bunch of young rock stars. And maybe a little darker than they want, too. Like I said, I didn't get a space vibe from this album. I got more of a Blood On the Tracks vibe. Troubled relationships going to hell vibe. And maybe something ultimately beyond that, too. That is some of my read of things, for what it's worth. I've had this in the CD changer in my car for several months now, and it's the only CD I haven't taken out or begun skipping over. It has a lot of traction. Many levels to explore.

I was worried this repress would be an unnecessary money-grab (and it probably is; does anyone who wanted one not have a copy of FIOE at this point?) but, surprisingly and happily, this pressing sounds great. No complaints. Purchase without fear!

Simultaneously energetic and world-weary, The Strokes' third effort adopts a cynical perspective without dismissing the catchy, upbeat fundamentals that make for easy listening. The album clocks in at a lengthy 52 minutes, a considerable expansion from the band's previous productions, each lasting just over half an hour. In spite of this, at no point does the album feel overdone or longer than necessary; in fact, after my first listen I still found myself wanting more.I would heartily recommend First Impressions to long-time fans and first-timers alike. It is easily one of my top five music purchases in recent memory.

I'm a drummer and so it's nice to listen to other different bands I like there style of music. The way the bass guitar and drums align together in sequence I can hear that rhythm guitar strumming to the beat

Love this album! originaly bought on cd years ago and blown away every time i played It, I bought it recently on vinyl, quality of vinyl is perfect and no distortion in sound, cover and inlay are great too.
