Peak Design P.O.V Kit Action Camera Mount for Capture Camera Clip

I would recommend this IF YOU have the Peak Design P.O.V. kit. Luckily I have the kit because I usually do event/wedding photography so this extra clip was a great addition to my set. This is pricy so please make sure you get the main "Peak Design Capture PRO Camera Clip with ARCA Plate" or this will be pointless and you will be in a situation where you will return this and not be happy. That is why you see negative feedback. If everybody had the "Peak Design Capture PRO Camera Clip with ARCA Plate", you would see all positive feedbacks!

I'm not sure what I expected when I bought this, but given all the five-star reviews I guess I was looking for something that would offer a modicum of stability for my GoPro when shooting hiking videos. Believe me, this mount doesn't.On the plus side, the mount (plus the required $60 Capture Camera Clip) does securely fasten the GoPro to your backpack. Also, you're not limited to just using a GoPro; both the mount and the Capture Camera Clip can be used with a DSLR as well, allowing you to securely keep your camera at the ready.On the downside, when attached to a backpack your GoPro footage will sway left and right, up and down, with every footstep you take. It's almost unwatchable. Frankly, I had better success using a chest mount than this backpack mount. At least the chest mount is closer to your center of gravity. Also, once the GoPro was attached it was impossible to preview what I was shooting. No matter how many adjustments I made after the fact, I was never able to get my camera level, resulting in footage that was tilted as well as shaky.I guess the Action Camera Mount worked as advertised--it did allow me to attach my GoPro to my backpack. However, I've since purchased a hand-held stabilizer with a gimbal for only $30 that delivers truly smooth, stable GoPro footage, which means that the nearly $100 I spent on the Action Camera Mount and Capture Camera Clip was money wasted.

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE PEAK DESIGN CAMERA CLIP!This product is great for capturing outdoor shots when wearing a backpack. I used this for my trip to Noway traveling up Preikestolen and it captured all of it beautifully. The steadiness of the camera when using this attachment is better than I had expected. This attachment is perfect if you're looking for a substitute to the GoPro chest strap when wearing a backpack.

Have to give it a 3 as the bolt for the GoPro Hero 4 attachment is too short. I'm adding a picture of 3 bolts: the longest is from GoPro's package, another one that came with Smatree handle, and the shortest is from this kit - I pushed it in as hard as I could, and it did snap in just a little; I should not have done that as I could damage the nut and break the whole deal. Luckily, either of the 2 longer bolts in the picture fit, so I can continue using the product, I just don't trust the company that can't get the size right. I'm thinking this is a quality control / sourcing issue, not engineering / design (not rocket science here). Overall, the kit fits the base as promised, holds the camera and allows adjusting the shooting angle up and down and left and right. A little more tricky with centering the lens, as this is controlled by how straight the strap part is attached. Also nice, they provide two longer bolts for the base component, to replace those that come with that, and fit the extra stabilizing base behind the strap. Just hoping there are'n any more production defects that will make this (pretty expensive) thing useless soon.

ATTENTION: You must own the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip. I'm giving this one star because I'm about to leave on vacation with my gopro and no way to mount it. I didn't buy gopro's mount because I heard this one was better. If only this listing was clearer about needing to purchase an additional device. Normally I read the reviews but since I had heard about this from friends I made the purchase without checking them first. The question now is if I should pay $60 for the Capture Camera Clip which will bring my total to $90 for this mount or if I should just return it.

I purchased this together with the camera clip for my GoPro and my DSLR camera. I love how easy is to use and the fact that includes an attaching plate that will work not only with GoPro cameras. I've had this for over a year and I've had used it for several activities and no issues at all.

Good stuff here. Built like a tank and holds my go pro as well as my DSLR. I was kind of irritated they sold me that I needed another $35 kit for the GoPro when it is not needed at all.
