I think the reason this gets returned is due to the shape and the size. I’m not actually sure what it’s supposed to be for. However, it works great for my purpose: a quality reusable pour over filter. I heat water up in the microwave, put this filter in a tall coffee cup, add coffee and pour hot water over it. It’s slightly big for most cups but it still works fine because the ground coffee stabilizes it in the cup. The benefit to the larger suze is that it’s easier to clean. So if you want a high quality reusable filter to make quick and easy pour over coffee - this filter works great.

The filter is a bit smaller than the original for my 10-cup Capresso MT600Plus, by an approximate ½-inch in height and diameter. But it works great in every way, and is sturdy. The Capresso brews quickly, and this filter handles the speed with no overflow.

UPDATE: I have continued to use this filter for over 3 years now and it has continued to hold up and perform very well!This is an excellent quality filter; far better than the "gold" and plastic filters. It is well constructed, very easy to clean, and quite strong/ durable. Because it is stainless steel, it does not absorb any flavors or odors as the plastic of the gold filters can. I highly recommend this filter.Additional Review After 1 Month's Use:I wouldn't change my initial review and would still highly recommend this filter but I will note 1 design flaw and 1 feature to be aware of. The feature to be aware of is that the filter may sit higher in your coffee maker than the plastic "gold" filters do and will need to be firmly seated for the top of your coffee maker to close fully (such is the case with mine). It also, because it sits higher, holds the coffee grounds higher up. The flaw is in the attachment of the handle for lifting the basket; it becomes more notable because of the firm fit of the filter (due to the circumference of its outer rim). The handle protrudes into a slight simple on 2 sides of the basket and can occasionally pop off. It can easily be relocated into the dimples and is nothing more than a slight inconvenience. All in all, I still consider this an excellent filter and assume it will last a long, or longer, than my Cuisinart coffee maker!

Update:I’m using a paper filter between this metal filter and a clever method and it works well. It allows coffee to flow much faster from the clever to the cups with little clogging.This way I’m able to pour faster while still getting a clean cup with no coffee residue at all.Buy it if you want to use it this way.Old review:If you are into high quality coffee, you want a clean cup with all its flavor, bright and clear.This filter is good for someone who does not care about some coffee debris sneaking into their cups.I prepared a coarse coffee cup and even though it was a coarse grind, some debris managed to get into the coffee cups, I can’t even think of a fine or medium coarse grind preparation, this filter will not do a good job.I recommend sticking with a decent quality paper filter instead.

This filter works just as well as a paper one. We haven’t noticed any difference in our Hamilton Beach 10 cup coffee maker. Coffee taste great and the filter is easy to clean.The filter has perforated screen on bottom too, pictures don’t show bottom so that was nice feature. I would recommend.

I became concerned about the health effects of straining my daily coffee through the chemicals in paper filters. All paper, regardless if the color is white or brown, is manufactured with chemicals. In addition, I became concerned about the environmental effects of making the paper filters and then disposing them in our local landfill. Finally, I became fed up with the never ending cost of buying paper filters, or that feeling of morning panic, when I realized we'd run out. This filter is safe surgical grade, always available, is a one time cost (saves money). easy to clean, and doesn't end up in our land fill. I also like that it's not coated with a thin gold (like some other filters) because in the past, I've found that the 'gold' wears off - exposing the metal underneath. This will be my filter for life! Love it!

I have a cuisinart coffee maker and this filter is way more sturdy than the one it came with. Not sure why people have issues with the size it fits mine just fine

Disappointed with the Filter's PerformanceI was really excited when I first got this coffee filter because it's made of stainless steel, which seemed like a great upgrade. Unfortunately, it ended up causing issues with my coffee machine. The tiny holes in the filter get clogged easily, and as a result, the coffee overflows. When it does work, it still lets grinds through, so I often end up drinking gritty coffee. Overall, it doesn’t filter properly and just made the brewing process frustrating.
