Intelligent Dark Fantasy written in a fresh, savvy voice...next book, please!
I love a complex story that digs into the mystical. I also love a story where someone goes on a quest to rescue a princess. Wolf of the Tesseract delivers two of my favorite things and is written in a fresh, savvy voice. Claire Jones lives in our world today, but she is (unknowingly) a major player in an interdimensional campaign. The first chapter of the book drops you in the middle of a last stand battle taking place in an alternate universe chockfull of high fantasy characters. Then it flips to our world and threads an unassuming college student to the leader of the “bad guys." The author gives the same attention to crafting her experience as he does the opening chapter. In other words, the fantastical, epic battle AND the realness of dealing with a cellphone are both written in a way that makes you say, “Ok, I believe this…and I want to know what happens next.”You have to pay attention to what the author has put to paper to fully enjoy this novel. Some characters have different names in different universes, and most of those names are a mouthful. Much like other successful fantasy stories, certain organizations and hierarchies are introduced without much explanation and you have to put some of the pieces together to appreciate all the nuances that go along with their purpose to move things along.Wolf of the Tesseract delighted me with the author’s analogy that uses Swiss cheese (no kidding) to explain parallel universes and different dimensions. I also enjoyed some of the tidbits he used to give a window into the characters that stray off the normal-adjective-path. For example, the belief that a security guard named Franklin holds about how all art thieves are beautiful women speaks volumes to who he is…and (*spoiler alert*) he dies a page or two after he’s introduced.I’ve got Through the Darque Gates of Koth queued up on my Kindle for my flight on Wednesday…stay tuned.

Cross-dimensional fantasy romp with the very fate of the universe hanging in balance
Author Schmitz tenders a cross-dimensional action romp with nothing less at stake than the fate of the universe! This reader enjoyed coming to know our “everygirl” heroine with a favorite region serving as backdrop—Minnesota and Wisconsin’s Twin Ports. Just as well, because the novel’s pacing starts out sluggish before abruptly launching into non-stop go shortly beyond its midpoint. Our heroine and her occasionally scruffy hero accompany one another Through the Looking Glass several times, crisscrossing continents and dimensions until the final cataclysmic melee. This reader looks forward to the writer continuing to hone his craft as his series progresses. Some of the prose structure was off-putting, as were a number of tired clichéd phrases and trope-tastic character archetypes (like the “noble savage” and “geeky best friend.”) The story would have benefitted with these and other supporting characters more fleshed out and active throughout the story. There were a couple of “Sure, Jan” moments also, requiring this reader to pause and shake them off before continuing. Our heroine ends the book a battle-hardened veteran, gearing to face the conflict sure to begin the next book. Together with the man she comes to fall for. Schmitz leaves us on firm footing, eager to join them.

Action-filled
Not usually the genre that I'm interested in, but I gave it a shot. Because I'm unaccustomed to this type of story, I found it a little difficult to follow the plot and figure out who is who. But after a while, I realized that the story had deep roots in the great controversy between God and Satan. I could see some parallels in the evil forces (angels) trying to destroy the good forces (angels). I'm amazed that someone can concoct the tongue-twister names the author has come up with! All said, if you're into the sci-fi, shape-shifter genre, this is a fast-paced story that will keep you scrolling page after page until the end.

A wild ride!
Good book, although the world-building is a bit scattered and hard to grasp, especially at first. I didn’t get into the characters much, either. I liked it anyway. It was original, which is hard to find nowadays. It was action packed, brimming with creativity, and I found it quite enjoyable. Did I already mention that? I’ll say it again. I had fun.I guess I’m a sucker for multidimensional, prophetic, magic and technology-laden, good vs evil stories. Who knew? Flavorful, and a wild ride. I must read more from this author.Well done, Mr. Schmitz!

Great book!
I love original fantasy stories, and Wolf of the Tesseract delivers! For starters, Mr. Schmitz is a master writer of action. Walls crumble, enemies invade and are repelled so vividly that I felt that I was watching a movie. But Wolf of the Tesseract does more than just describe action scenes. Complete and compelling characters come to life, and many story elements combine seamlessly in a very fulfilling manner. Mysteries arise, whetting the reader's appetite, and then are cleverly revealed in original fashion. If you enjoy expertly written fantasy books (and who doesn't?), Wolf of the Tesseract should be on your shelf or in your Kindle!

What a read!
Beginning with the first sentence, the book pulls you into the action. The twists and turns of the plot make it akin to riding a roller coaster. The author masterfully weaves the actions and interactions between the multiple dimensions into a marvelous tapestry of delicious enjoyment. The characters are multidimensional in both the literal and figurative sense. The magical elements are prominent but not excessive. The book provides and excellent, albeit temporary, escape from mundane reality.I highly recommend this book.

If you're into parallel realities, vivid and imaginative action ...
If you're into parallel realities, vivid and imaginative action sequences and of course werewolves, then Wolf of the Tesseract is for you. A real page turner with real, modern and interesting characters as well as the mystical too. Is a page turner for sure.
