The color changes after time
I wanted to give this five stars, but due to the fact that if you use the stick and read it within the two minutes and it reads white, you assume there is no alcohol in your breast milk. When checking the test sick 15-20 minutes later it showed blue. I am unsure if that is just due to sitting out and after time they all turn blue. Do you ignore the blue that shows up way after the two minutes, or only go with the reading at the two minutes Mark. I would love to know what it means if the test stick is a different color after the two minutes.

Gives me peace of mind
If you're a breastfeeding mom, you CAN have the occasional glass of wine etc. It's a myth that you need to pump and dump, or that pumping decreases the amount of alcohol in your breastmilk. The alcohol in your breastmilk decreases as your blood alcohol decreases, so only time will help. These strips can let you know when it's safe to breastfeed again (or to feed your baby breastmilk that you pumped after drinking).I tested a strip about half an hour after a strong drink, when I definitely felt the alcohol in my system. The strip immediately turned dark blue. So I know the strips work. When I use them, I just hand-express a little milk into a cup, saturate the strip, and wait. It says to check after 2 minutes, but I find that I sometimes get very faint blue after about 5 minutes. La Leche League and others say if you're sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to breastfeed, but I like to play it safe and wait until there's NO alcohol in my milk to breastfeed.I only wish these strips had a "control" line, like a pregnancy test does, to be sure you're getting a real result and not a dud strip.

Update: DO NOT ORDER; extremely dangerous!
This USED to be an amazing product I used through my past TWO pregnancies, but my last order, I noticed the strip no longer had the pregmate logo on the strip…. I tried it one night I still felt a little buzzed and no color change; to confirm my suspicion, I tried another strip after knowingly having three glasses of wine, and NO COLOR CHANGE! Sent a complaint with my Amazon order and got a replacement…. Tested again knowing my breast milk was at unsafe levels and NO COLOR CHANGE! So incredibly unsafe to be selling to breastfeeding mamas.

Work well
These work great. I’m using them to test my milk for my second child and am pleased that they work well. I express milk directly onto the strip. For ease of reference I also included my first experience below. This time around I have not experienced them turning blue after the two minute waiting period. They do turn blue when alcohol is present.Seems to work pretty good. I know people said that they would turn blue after the two minutes but if you read the instructions inside the box it tells you that there is naturally alcohol in the air and that can cause a positive test. I’ve tested these out under multiple scenarios and based on how the body metabolizes alcohol, I’m pretty sure they work.

Ok to do a quick milk check
I bought these to make sure my little one wouldn’t be affected if I choose to drink a glass of wine. I read that the new research says you don’t need to pump and dump after a glass or two of wine, just as long as you give your body time to metabolize. This helps me ensure the milk is clean. It’s easy to use and easy to read. I would just hand express a little milk in a container and check it. The directions say to check the color after 2 minutes. I did this and was able to match it correctly, however, I noticed that if you let it sit for 10 minutes the color changes to a light blue. This confused me the first time and I was worried my milk wasn’t clean. Other than that downfall they seem ok to get an idea of the alcohol content in your breast milk.

Do not work- Bad Batch
I drank 3 drinks within 3 hours and purposely tested my milk and it showed a negative result saying I had no alcohol in my breast milk. I thought maybe it was just a mistake so I waited another 30 minutes and tried again. I got the same result. So then I added whiskey to my breast milk sample. I figure if I add the alcohol right to it surely it will show a positive. Two minutes later it still showed negative. I either got a bad batch of tests (as I used 3 different strips for the 3 samples) or it doesn’t work. I used another brand before this and those worked. I used pregmate for my pregnancy tests and those were always accurate so I thought these would be too but nope. It’s possible it was just a bad batch but there definitely should have been alcohol in the milk as I even poured whiskey straight onto one of the test strips.**probably due to heat. I contacted them about it and they refunded me for the strips. So it was probably a bad batch. Excellent customer service to make it right with a refund.

Very helpful for ease of mind
After being pregnant for 9 months, its great to be able to have a drink here and there again. It is a great product for getting an ease of mind to breastfeed again after that drink. I would recommend waiting longer than the 2 minutes to verify the test is not positive- it depends on how much milk is on the strip and how long it takes to dry enough to get that accurate reading. i.e. sometimes after the 2 minutes the strip is not positive, but at 4 minutes it is. I always wait at least 5 minutes before either feeding or pumping.Edit- my wife and I share the account.

It works!
For fun I had a about four drinks and decided to test out the strips and they do work! It makes me feel so much better that I can drink responsibly in the future knowing that I wont be harming my baby with these strips!
