A practical tool that’s well-constructed and easy to use
These pruning shears were highly recommended by a well-known product review source. And I wasn't disappointed. I use them to cut the ends off fresh flowers, to trim back small bushes, and to cut out dead plants at the end of the season. They are lightweight but have a nice heft to them. The locking mechanism is very practical. This pruner has a quality feel and is comfortable to use. Very sharp, they do the job of cutting smoothly and well.

Highly recommend
Way better than cheap, name brand pruners that rust after the first use and dull super quickly. These cut like butter (they are very sharp so always wear gloves), feel premium, and have shown no signs of rust with frequent use. After using these, I would never go back to any other style.

Absolute LOVE - Comparison Video
The media could not be loaded. Highlights of my Video Review:1. I actually ordered both these Small ones and the XL ones because I couldn't decide which to get. I show the comparison in my video along with my old favorite, which is more of a traditional/standard pruner.2. Several elderly gardeners who have been gardening most their lives actually introduced these to me and I was very skeptical - but after one use, I was totally sold and had to get my own set.3. I've bought so many normal pruners throughout the years and never found ones that particularly wow'ed me until these. I love these.4. Has some kind of springy action that really makes cutting a breeze5. Easy, one handed operation - easy to flip the grip-lock just by wiping it against your leg or something.6. Easy to take apart and sharpen - or...they open wide enough that you can do a quick sharpening job without even taking it apart7. Has worked on live and dead branches just fine. Has outperformed anvil style pruners that claimed to be 5X more powerful than regular bypass pruners. Has outperformed all other pruners I've ever used. I've never used Felco pruners before though and I've heard those are the best on the market...those are out of my price range though and many reviewers have said that these are just as good with a better latch system.8. These Small sized ones are perfect for my pocket so I can carry them around for all day gardening...and fit perfectly in my hand. I would recommend these for the ladies with small hands and the XL ones for men with large hands.9. Made in Japan - Excellent Quality

Sharp, sharp, sharp
These bypass pruners are very sharp and cut beautifully, with a satisfying clack. They're much nicer than the pruners I found at the big-box stores, for not much more money. One of my better gardening purchases.

You’re missing out!
These are top quality and make gardening so so enjoyable. The smaller size is perfect for my wife and very nimble for even a guy with average sized hands to use. On par with Swiss made pruners but at half the cost…excellent value. Makes a satisfying “clunk” when it cuts and the locking mechanism on the bottom of the handle makes it fast and easy to lock or unlock by brushing the lock up against your thigh. Also tried another Japanese brand but this one was just so much more ergonomic and cuts smoother. Has no issues with either brown/dry or green/fresh branches and makes a clean cut. The other brands struggled with green branches and kept getting twisted or bound. Also, multicolored handles are useful as red is easy to see during the day and white stands out at night so I’m less likely to misplace these. Excellent value…definitely picking up another one

Very Good Pruners, But Handle Could Be Better
Comparing these to Felco 6 pruners which I use, the handle on the Okatsune 101 is about 1 inch shorter. While the 7-inch size does feel good for my small hands (female, 5' 3"), I do wonder if the 103 model might have been a better fit. While I appreciate the sharpness of these pruners, as well as the locking mechanism, what I do not like is that the curvature of the handle does not conform to my hands (unlike the Felco). Also, the PVC-like coating on the handle makes for a slippery feeling, and does not give me a firm grip, i.e., it is not rubberized. For being at about half the price of the Felco, the Okatsune pruners are very compelling. With proper care, I am certain that they will perform well. But the handle is definitely one thing that can be improved.

Between felco 6 and okatsune pruner.
This is a very nice pruner. I used it yesterday to pruned my shrubs around the house. This is sharp and the size small fit me perfectly. I also owned felco 6 which I been using for many years. Felco, made to fit your hands comfortably unlike okatsune because the hump on felco handle is slighly deeper on both side to prevent your hand from sliding forward while cutting. As you can see, the hump on okatsune is not deep enough and it is only on one side., Therfore, when you make a cut your hand goes forward at times. Both are sharp and cut a thumb size branch without any problems. Okatsune is much more lighter in weight than felco. I like the lock on okatsune. The felco lock is bothersome, annoying as it sometimes locked on you while you are about to make a cut. Felco cut is smooth, flawless. Okatsune cut is also smooth and flawless but it has this snapping cut sound everytime you made a cut. Felco spring has more resistance than okatsune. If you have arthritis problem, I suggest you get the okatsune. Overall, both okatsune and felco 6 are both good pruners. I recommend both to any avid gardeners.
