Works perfectly!
Do not hesitate to buy this! I almost never leave reviews, so hopefully this will encourage people to try this before paying a plumber or trying to cut out the remaining threads in the shower connection. Like most people buying this, my shower head broke off in the wall. I tried 3 other brands, all at the local stores and nothing would work, they were too small. I even tried a kit the local hardware store had, but it only gripped the end, not the middle, so it slipped as well. I received the pipe wrench today and within minutes it got the remainder of the pipe out. It is super easy, just slide it in put a socket or wrench on it and turn, it took less than a minute. Great product, don't waste your time, just order it.

Did not perform as desired. The torque created on the pipe that is stuck is not even, therefore this product does not remove the broken pipe.

Amazon solved my problem!
My shower arm snapped off while I was taking a shower over a week ago. It disconnected from the elbow pipe. Since then I have been taking tub baths and searching for a way to get the old stuck pipe thread out of the elbow. I could not afford a plumber and I am stubborn about doing things myself. I tried multiple solutions, conferred many times with the local hardware store but to no avail. They gave me an "Easy Out", first in the wrong size, and then another in the right size. Unfortunately, it was tapered and the section of the "Easy Out" that was wide enough for the job would not catch because of the elbow being short(aka dead end!!). After *4* trips to the hardware store and lots of gasoline I was frustrated and more resolved to fixing this myself than ever. I looked at how-to videos online with no luck. Then I went on Amazon, thinking maybe they have an 'easy out' that doesn't taper at the end. And that is when I discovered this little gem!! I had it shipped one day shipping, desperate for a shower by now and sick of looking at my de-paneled posterior wall and the two tiles I had removed from the shower wall. The 1/2 inch internal pipe wrench looked too small, but as you position and turn it the action part grabs hold. My pipe was really stuck so it took a few tries and lots of girlie muscle, but it came out! I literally jumped for joy and told the internal pipe wrench "you are my favorite tool ever!!" This is a well made sturdy tool and in my opinion, the best way to go for this type of problem.. I told a male neighbor about it and he'd never heard of it. I plan to show it to my local hardware store. THANK YOU, AMAZON!! I really CAN do it myself!! :)

Item worked perfectly to remove broken shower head pipe in wall.
I broke off the shower head pipe when attempting to change an old shower head. The pipe was broken inside the wall. I tried a chrome version of this tool that I purchased at a hardware store and it did not work. It would not grip the inside of the pipe. But this version in black that I purchased from Amazon worked perfectly. Was able to unscrew the pipe from the brass fitting in the wall. Saved the hassle, time an expense of breaking tile and opening up the wall to extract the broken pipe. I would recommend if you have a similar situation.

An amazing little tool that works perfectly for certain repairs.
I and a landlord and do a lot of repairs. Recently while renovating a property, I discovered that the previous occupant had broken off the shower nipple flush with the wall. I tried and tried, using needler nosed pliers and a small vise grip plier to remove the remaining pipe, but simply could not budge it. In just a few seconds with this tool, I was able to remove the broken half-inch pipe, and then install the new shower nipple. What an ingenious device!

Worked great, then broke to great travail
This tool worked perfectly for one or two applications. Recently though, I was trying to extract a broken nipple from a drop ear and the tool's only moving part broke off inside, depositing itself way down the pipe I was working on - greatly complicating the job. In principle, it's a great tool. However I would recommend ordering a higher quality version of this. Superior has never been known for superior tools.

Didn't work for me.
After reading the reviews that stated this worked for removing a shower arm nipple I purchased this for that same problem. It simply did not work. While the wrench would "catch" after first positioning it in the nipple, it would then break loose and spin freely. I then got a Wheeler Rex 87050 Nipple Chuck. It worked perfectly the first time. It costs more, but it's worth it. Wheeler Rex 87050 Nipple Chuck

Worked.....sort of.
I needed to remove the remnant of a shower arm that had snapped off. The shower arm was the original, more than 30 years old, and apparently the threads had been 'cemented' instead of just wrapped with plumbers teflon tape. Prior to receiving the extractor tool, I used muriatic acid (as another user mentioned) to dissolve the corrosion and to try to loosen the plumbers cement. Then I sprayed it with WD-40. The tool didn't unscrew the shower arm segment, but after several attempts turning, it did mangle it enough so that I was able to finally grab and remove it with a needle-nosed pliers. Now I think I should be proactive and replace the shower arm in our second bathroom before it too snaps off.
