Look at Life 6: World Affairs [DVD]

Quality of transfer to DVD
I found the transfer to DVD not up to the standard I expected. I have seen the BBC Four programmes where they have used extracts from various themes and their transfers appeared to be better. The first DVD I looked at changed in sharpness and momentarily went out of focus. The whole point is that the originals were taken from 35mm prints and should be almost perfect. Have they squashed too many films on each disc ? I would love to buy these if they were remastered to Bluray. The films are small gems showing life in Britain in the sixties. Wonderful to see the beginnings of the Common Market and the expectations what europe would become.Look at it now! Thanks to Amazon UK for splendid quick delivery service.

World Affairs as seen by the Rank Organisation!
I have very much enjoyed this series of ten minute cinema documentaries from the sixties, This volume is perhaps the least interesting to me as its by definition covering non UK topics , but still rates high on the nostalgia front and on par with the previous releases, sad that they are so expensive.

Super time capsule of the late 1950's and early 1960's
Another very well crafted DVD restoration of the original film clips. The World Affairs Look at Life is a superb documentary of world events during this amazing time in recent history. Although the world events are compiled through the British filter of that time, it is likely one of the most sincere viewpoints available during that interval.
