Flatter Cakes
The product comprises three cake strips made from a thick absorbent cotton material. The cake strips fit perfectly around a 2" deep cake tin. The strips fasten around a cake tin using a belt and loop system and can be adjusted to fit the required cake tin diameter (up to 12" diameter).The strips work by stopping the outside of the cake cooking faster than the centre. The cake bakes more evenly and thereby reduces the doming effect. The resulting cake is flatter and the edges are less crispy.I used these cake tin strips to bake a 6" three tiered white velvet cake. I used the strips dry (i.e. I didn't wet them). The cake strips definitely worked, although the cake tiers needed an extra five minutes baking time. The cake tiers were significantly flatter than they would have been if I had not used the strips. The cake was also more evenly baked and the edge was less crispy. I will certainly use these cake strips again in the future.

Pointless.
A very expensive way of making a hissing sound in your oven . Only used once and I am frightened they will fall apart.

Set on fire in the oven melted
Set on fire in the oven had to throw away didint so it’s job should of bought dearer you get what you pay for

Didnt make a difference to the shape of the cakes
Didnt notice any difference with my cakes they were still domed shaped not straight. Also the material has brown singed marks.not sure if this is what happens normally or not.

Not bad
My cakes always domed so thought i would try these. They are awkward to use at first as they are quite stiff but fine after a few times. Cakes came out perfect shape although i found they tend to stick to the sides which they have never done before. Personally i think tin foil does a better job !

It works
My baking is good as a result of using theses. Place in washing machine to clean. It is a bit expensive for what it is.

Missing piece
Missing one of the loops which secures one of the strips to the tin. Not great considering the price.Otherwise good, baked flat cakes.
