Powerful, Heartbreaking Story That Stays With You
Of Mice and Men is one of those classics that lives up to its reputation. Steinbeck’s writing is clear and simple, but the emotions and themes run deep. The story of George and Lennie, two men chasing the small dream of land and stability, is touching, raw, and tragic all at once. What stood out most to me is how human the characters feel. The friendship between George and Lennie is tender and complicated, and it captures both the hope and the heartbreak of people trying to build a better life in tough circumstances. Even though the book is short, the weight of the story stays with you long after you finish it.Pros:Accessible writing style that’s easy to followMemorable characters and themes of friendship, dreams, and lonelinessShort length makes it approachable for students and casual readersStill feels relevant and thought-provoking todayCons:Emotional intensity may feel heavy for some readersThe ending is difficult and may not appeal to everyone looking for a hopeful storyThis is a beautifully written, deeply human story that’s as relevant today as when it was first published. If you’re looking for a classic that’s easy to read but leaves a lasting impact, Steinbeck delivers exactly that.

Beautifully Tragic
I can't believe I hadn't read this book yet, it feels like one of those books that everyone knows the plot of but for me... I went into this spoiler free. Let's just say I was not ready for how much I was going to love this book! I think it might be my new favorite ever. I have autism and OCD myself and while it's never stated what mental condition Lennie has I can absolutely relate to doing things that make no sense to anyone who doesn't have your condition. Obviously nothing to the degree Lennie does but sometimes I'll just wash my hands a couple extra times because I'm worried and end up being late to something. That combined with the generally stellar writing makes for an incredible book.

Protecting the vulnerable
A conflicting moral dilemma whether to protect the those who don't know what they are doing. The mind of a child in the body of a powerful man can create a monster. George's care and loyalty to Lennie is heart warming. The characters in the book are well crafted. Unfortunately there are too many unintended grammatical errors to award 5 stars.

Who's fault?
A lot to think about. She said woman get blamed all the time for talking to a man. Did he put herself in danger talking to the wrong person or did George planned it all along?I need to talk to ChatGPT about this.

Quick Read
Great book, and a quick read. A comment on morality without insignificant bloat.
