Good enough for Yosemite!
Update 7/24/14 - A question I received prompted me to examine these hiking poles again. The question referred to a feature listed (which I had not previously noticed) which states the top of the pole can be removed in order to use the pole as a camera mono-pod. The poles I received had no such feature. The tops of the poles are molded plastic with a cork handle. They do not have a wood top as described in item "B" in the product description.I purchased these poles for a hiking trip to Yosemite and they did not disappoint. When I first received them I was a bit skeptical due to their size and weight. They are pretty light and easy to carry even when not in use. My wife and I hiked the Panorama trail - Mist trail from the top of Glacier point down to the valley floor. The trail was a mix of "normal" dirt trail and hard rock (granite "steps"). and the poles held up well. My wife and I are not the most experienced hikers so I imagine there are better poles out there but these were good enough for me, and they were reasonably priced compared to others I had researched. The only issues I had were the logo on the handle was worn off, but the pole did not really look used as there were no other defects on the poles e.g. scratches or dents and the rubber ends of the poles wore off during the hike. But I guess that is to be expected on the terrain we were hiking on. I would recommend these for the beginner to intermediate hiker.

So-So - good for recreational hikers.
After using my poles the 1st time the rubber boot as the bottom was worn though. I now have the metal coming through the bottom of it. Other than that they are ok. They give a little when extra pressure is placed on them, but they are great at what they do. I'm 5'10" and have them extended fully. At full extension the seem to be a bit less stable, but still operational. Definitely a recreational tool, not for serious hiker/trek types.

I used this in Mt Whitney, unfortunately on the way back the plastic cover of the bottom part got damaged, but the poles continue to be ok despite that little detail, I noticed that all the poles lose them, so I can say "is standard". Besides that, these poles were very helpful to do a safe round trip of that distance.

Works Great!
Works real great! Stinks I lost the bottom piece, must have gotten loose & fell off. But other then that. Nice!

was fine.
They were just as described. Only problem, the rubber tip on one of the poles kept coming off. The locking mechanism, however, was fine.

Easy to adjust to and comfortable for continued use.
They provide excellent equilibrium for walking at any time and any place. They are far more comfortable than using a walker; the alternativeoffered by my physician.

this is a nice set of aluminum alloy trekking poles
USAHOME updated their description of this pair of trekking poles. Used to say they were made of Carbonlite. Now it says they're made of 7075. It would be even more helpful if it said Duralumin 7075. For 40 bucks, this is a nice set of aluminum alloy trekking poles. I'm keeping them.
