Can't speak to the flavor yet, since I just got this. Wife bought it for my birthday. I specifically asked for it because I saw a barrel-aged Manhattan recipe I wanted to try but have since found many more recipes (Old Fashioned, etc.). My wife gave this to me with a caveat - it arrived damaged. When I checked it out, one of the six metal hoops supporting the staves had broken (probably in transit). I contacted the seller (Redhead Barrels in Wylie, Texas) and their support team said they'd send me a new barrel ASAP. Great customer service. The personalization on the barrel head is really well done, and I am looking forward to curing my replacement barrel when it arrives so I can put some liquor in ot to age!

Barrel arrived very quickly. I am so impressed with the quality of this barrel. I have six other barrels from other sources and this is the only one that has had no leaks from the start.I love the free engraving and the unexpected funnel filter and the shot glass included in the package. One very happy customer!Update...I had an issue with a crack opening up on the spigot. Contacted the seller and a replacement was on its way within an hour or two. Excellent customer service guarantees I will be ordering other barrels in the future. Still a very happy customer.

I have not used the barrels yet so I can't comment on the flavor. Although the charred oak aroma smells delicious. The barrels arrived 5 days before the estimated delivery date, which was very surprising considering the craftmanship and excellent job that was done on the engraving. The barrels held water almost immediately after receiving them and took only a few minutes to stop leaking. Barrels that I have received from other companies in the past took hours and even a couple of days to swell enough to seal. So far, I am very pleased with the Read Head Barrels. I can't wait to start aging some fine spirits. Thanks, Read Head Barrels!

I am very disappointed in these barrels. I bought three of the 2 liter barrels in 2023 to use for aging Cachaca 51. One in June 2023 and 2 in August 2023. We followed the directions to a T. The liquor either seeped out of 2 barrels or somehow evaporated. I have one barrel that has some Chachaca in it. I feel like I should be reimbursed for the two barrels that didn't age but obliterated the Cachaca. So each barrel cost me around $100 - $25 for the cachaca and $75 per barrel. That comes to $200!I don't know who is putting in good reviews, but can't imagine that their barrels didn't perform as expected.

As the directions state, it could take an hour to days or weeks for the Red Head Barrel to stop leaking. I flushed the barrel with clean water 4 times. I then filled it with water to start the process of swelling the barrel to create a leak proof barrel. I was very fortunate, mine didn’t leak at all so I was able to start my aging process with Rum within an hour of opening the package.I would recommend adding to the instructions on placement of the barrel for the beginner like myself once you start the aging process; indoors, outdoors, breezy or draft free etc.

This barrel was ordered as a gift, and we filled it with Vieux Carre. We chose Redhead barrels because of their excellent reviews. The barrel arrived quickly, was in perfect condition, the engraving looks wonderful and the overall quality is great. We contacted the Redhead company twice with questions, and they responded immediately. It now needs to age for 40 days, and then we can't wait to give this very special gift to our son.

A veteran owned company that stands by its products. as a fellow veteran, I try to buy from fellow vets, but if the products don't hold up, I don't. This barrel arrived in perfect condition. The craftsmanship was outstanding. It only took 2 days filled with water to seal a very small leak on the back. I have bought other brands that leak like crazy for a week. I will be buying more.

Great craftsmanship, engraving and material is high quality. My 10l barrel was leaking for about 4-5 days.
