Audrey's back and better than ever!
I love the Treasure books! And Exile is the best yet- it is really two books in one. I laughed my way through the first half-the descriptions are really wonderful (someone wearing a "garment so ugly only a woman of astonishing wealth would have the confidence to wear it"- when Donna, their newest hire arouses doubts that she can perform manual labor with her Jersey Girl talons, she rips off a nail, saying she put them on just for the interview- her cleaning methods inspire such incredulity 'as a flat-earther studying a globe'- but hey, I'm gonna try the vinegar and water spray). When we get to the mystery that unfolds in the second half of the book, things turn darker and much, much sadder. It's a study of the past, of families separated, lives having to be overturned because of social conventions. As much fun as the first half of the book is, the second half makes you worry and hope that society isn't going backwards. If you haven't read the previous books, do yourself a favor and start with Book 1.I love Audrey, I love the town, I love her husband Sean, I love Ty, her former inmate employee,I love her dog Ethel who is better than a Swiffer), I love her job. My only criticism of the book is that Ms. Hubbard has created a character and a life so compelling, I want to BE Audrey! I know I cannot, but I can at least make my life better by living the "Uncle Vinnie Credo" (around pg 1257 in the Kindle edition- look it up- words to live by).Thank you Susan Hubbard for a great read, and keep the Audrey books coming.

Lovely characters
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great story, nicely twisty but not unbelievable. And it’s told well. The writing is great, the editing is good, the plot makes sense, there are no gaping timeline errors or all the other annoying issues mysteries often have. But the main reason I liked it was the truly excellent characters. The good guys actually are not goody two shoes or meddling morons but people you’d like to talk to at a party. And the bad guys are bad, but they don’t drip insanity and evil-beyond-belief, they’re just bad people who do unpleasant things that cause distress to other normal people. If that sounds boring it shouldn’t. The result is a ripping yarn that I thoroughly enjoyed and didn’t have to suspend belief to get through—quite a novelty!

It was okay
This entry in the series was okay, but my least favorite; the mystery was interesting though not engrossing. I'm sorry we didn't get anything about Audrey's wedding -- not a morsel! And, of course, I really miss Jill. This was not a book that I 'couldn't put down'. In fact, I picked it up a couple of times to see if I had finished it or not, which I hadn't -- certainly not a page turner. A convoluted, long-winded mystery that I was, frankly, happy to finally finish.

Several Mysteries Solved in This One
The job that the main characters do is interesting - estate sales. The addition of Donna to the staff is great. I'm sure that we'll find out a lot more about her in the next book since it alluded to some things that were going on with her. Audrey expects a lot out of her employees but she values them too. The story about the Tate mansion was sad and long but people used to have to hide all kinds of things in their lives because of societal pressures. Audrey knows how to dig out the good, bad and ugly on all her clients. She definitely has a curious mind that will go to any lengths to uncover mysteries.

Truly enjoyable cozy mystery!
I received this book free from one of the book sites. I do not remember which one! This is my honest and voluntary review.I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The characters were intriguing & quite memorable. Each one had a role to play in the Rosa Parks Community Center, some more honorable than others! I have read the first book in the series too, and now I have to read the full series! The writer has a way of weaving the story that captures the imagination of the reader. She is able to develop reasonable plots that have enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes too. I enjoyed the interactions between the crew of Another Man's Treasure, the marital interactions with Sean & Audrey...being married to an officer of the law who won't share information is really hard on a woman who enjoys solving mysteries! The writing is detailed, I especially enjoyed the info on how estate sales are done. The history was very interesting. The dialogue is natural and consistent, there is some swearing, but it is quite limited to the situations & not prevalent. The descriptive writing gives substance to the story & I could "see" things clearly.I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good writing wrapped up in a very good cozy mystery. Do not start this book in the evening! I started it around 11 pm & it's 5 am now! I don't give 5 stars often, but this author earned every one!

Smart and attention grabbing
So sad I have to wait for the next book to be published. I just finished binge reading this series. Once I read the first book I was hooked. These books grab my interest right away, the character are very real and the plot is never dull. I am not trying to guess ahead of time who did what and when, I just get caught up in the story. Looking forward to more.

Treasure in Exile - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Audrey is asked to run a sale of the Tate Mansion on behalf of the Rosa Parks Community Centre, after the death of wealthy widowed owner, Vareena Tate. She agrees reluctantly despite detesting Loretta Bostwick, who funds the Coding Club that Audrey's retired father attends. At the fundraiser, everyone is stunnedwhen the hostess plummets to her death from the grand staircase, in front of her devastated husband and shocked guests! What explanation does her widower George Bostwick give for Loretta's grisly demise? Who are the potential suspects?Where else are Audrey and the Team conducting a sale? What crimes is Crawford Bostwick suspected of? Where does he flee? Who helped him?How did George regard his son's lifestyle? What unusual feature becomes apparent at the late Birdie Armentout's house? What happens there and to whom? When do the secrets about Maybelle and Vareena come to light and where is the evidence of this discovered?Every episode in this wonderfully entertaining series by S W Hubbard, brings a sense of familiarity and yet discovery against mysteries and murder. Even the day-to-day lives of Audrey, Ty and new associate Donna are fascinating in aiding the plot and character development that readers old and new will enjoy to the full. Treasure in Exile
I love reading a series of books where the characters become your friends. I find myself wishing Audrey to be careful, wanting to know more about Ty and now Donna, happy that Audrey's father is enjoying life, glad that Audrey warmed to Sean and thankful that the mysteries have plenty of twists and turns. On to the next one.........
