This is a great jacket!
I had been wanting a Carhartt jacket for a while. My fiance' wanted to buy me one for my birthday a few months ago while it was still cold here inTexas, but we couldn't find one in my size in the stores at the time so she got me something else. A few weeks ago, I received an email from amazon about a sale on the same jacket I was interested in and it was 30% off retail price. As usual, I did my homework and looked at reviews extensively as well as other jacket styles. I almost went with a lighter weight jacket, but glad I didn't, as I have several ligh weight jackets already. The reviews seemed to all suggest the jacket runs large so, I ordered a medium as I am 5'11" 170 lbs. and normally a large in jackets. I'm glad I did because the medium fits near perfectly. I'm sure the large would be way too bulky on me. If I fully extend my arms over my head, the jacket does expose my stomach a bit and the cuffs do ride up my wrists slightly, however this is to be expected and happens with my other, large sized jackets as well. I'm sure that in extreme cold climates, you would want to go for your normal size so the jacket could be worn over multiple layers, but for me in Texas, I feel this jacket will keep my warm with only a single layer underneath on the coldest of days. Carhartt products are no longer made in the USA, however the fabric used does still come from US providers. The construction seems very sturdy. The jacket is a bit stiff, but after one wash, it is a bit more loose. I was looking for a rugged jacket and this fits the bill. I expect this jacket will hold up through the roughest situations and last many years. I love the quilted lining, it is very comfortable. The arms are quilted as well, but not with flannel like the rest of the jacket. This is designed to let you get your arms through even while wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath. The inner pockets are a great feature and while the outer pockets aren't lined, they are spacious and comfortable enough for hands. The zipper is very rugged and takes a little persuasion sometimes, as expected from a heavy-duty zipper. The hood is spacious and comfortable. It does add some bulk just behind the neck, but I'd rather have it there if needed than not. It does have pull strings to fit more snugly if needed. The arms and waist have elastic bands to keep out any drafts when it is windy and they are just as heavy-duty as the rest of the jacket. Overall, I am very satisfied with this jacket. I haven't worn it besides trying it on a few times yet, but I don't imagine I'll change my mind when I do.

Good quality jacket
I think i found my new favorite jacket. Im always looking for Carhartt jackets or coats and i had the J140 which is basically the same but the outer shell is not as soft. This model is sandstone and is much softer and has a weathered look. The liner is quilted which is much thicker than blanket or thermal lined types.Quilt (and Sherpa) liners are much more comfortable when wearing short sleeve shirts. Its not as heavy as my other coats and yet keeps me nice and toasty even if its 30 deg outside.I can even wear this in colder climate if i layer it with a long sleeve thermal shirt which i prefer than a big bulky jacket. In my experience Carhartt will last you a long time even if you abuse it and this one is no exception.I have a barn coat that i use at work for 11 years and still going strong. You pay a little bit more for this jacket but if it last you a lifetime so what. Edit Went up to the mountains today... snow,30 deg. and 50 mph gust.It was cold as hell but this jacket blocked the wind and kept me warm. All i had was a long sleeve t shirt underneath and i was comfortable.Definitely recommended to anybody looking for a warm jacket that is not too bulky.I really want another one with a different color coz i liked it so much. Just be aware that Carhartt makes another jacket exactly like this but its not sandstone. Its just as good but this kind is a much softer outer shell.

My new favorite jacket!
I have an athletic build, but I'm starting to put on a little in the mid section. I usually wear an X-large with most shirts, coats and jackets. I tried on a large Carhartt and although it seemed to be a perfect fit, it was just a bit on the small side for arm length and shoulder room. I knew these jackets tend to be on the large side, but I still needed room to move around. When I received the X-large jacket, it was certainly too big for me. It fit fine and was functional, but it didn't look nice. I washed it in hot water a couple times and tumble dried it on the high heat settings. (Note: The first wash I used white vinegar instead of detergent. This will set the fabric colors to prevent fading) . The fit now is just about perfect. I have the shoulder room to move around without causing the sleeves to ride up. The trunk area is still a tad on the large side, but I have room to layer clothes underneath if need be, which is ideal. The jacket itself is very comfortable. It doesn't itch underneath and the fabric seems to breath without allowing in wind. Just a really nice jacket that you don't have to worry about getting torn or dirty.

We love carhartt jackets
We are a hard working family and this is one of our favorite jackets as it is tough and warm. I bought my first jacket in my late twenty and have gotten three fir myself and I still wear the first one I bought. I just turned 62 and they are my go to every day! I have bought my grandsons and granddaughter there's and my oldest grandson I've got him 2 in different colors. We are family that loves the ranch life and military.

Quality, Minor sizing issues but a great purchase
First off, I'm 6"2 at 207 and I ordered a large after reading about them running large. I wish there was a "Medium Tall" or every size + "Tall" because I'm still swimming in the chest area but wish it was just an inch longer on the arms and torso. So to clarify this, its a perfect fit if you aren't extending your arms (working/etc) and just keeping it casual, with the exception of the chest area. I would be worried about a medium being too short everywhere but I'm sure the chest would fit great. Quality is definitely there. I don't feel at all like this is getting ruined this century. This thing is TOUGH! The lining is super soft and warm as well. If you are just hanging around or doing office work it's great. If you start moving or getting active it heats up like you wouldn't believe. I have zero doubts you would be cold if you were working/active in 20-30 degree weather with just a t-shirt on under it. Hood very comfy and fits well. I've heard you can rub (and then work) a candle/wax on this type of outer canvas/cotton material and use it to make it fully waterproof. I think that will be what I do next. Bonus fact: Pet fur, cat in my case, is drawn to this jacket.

Soft and snuggly. Accurate Sizing, Heaver than expected.
Love the jacket. It's heavier than I expected which is very welcome. I have a lighter weight Carhartt Jacket already, which I really like. I'm kind of a woose when it comes to cold and the lighter coat didn't quite cut it for summers in SW Alaska. This one ought to do nicely to about 50*F/ 10*C. Below that I'm wearing my winter parka. Can't test out the coat until the summer since I live in the tropics, sorry. Now, after 2 summer seasons in the Bristol Bay area of Alaska, misty, windy, I still love this jacket. It's my favorite jacket that I've owned, tough and snuggly too. I'm 6'2", weigh about 210 lbs and I got a XL The sleeves are just about perfect. The length and chest are perfect but the waist could be a little smaller.... or I should drink more beer. It's not bad but there could be some draft issues. I wear a 35 waist in my pants, for your comparison.

Love the Jacket!!!!!!!
Color is great, it is a little darker than khaki, I already own a dark brown so wanted something different. Being a women with long arms it is hard to find a casual every day Jacket for warmth with sleeves that are long enough for me and the men's small is the perfect fit for me the body is a little big but not buying this jacket for style but for warmth in the cold weather months of the year for work, so this one is just what I was looking for. As for durability already know how well this product will hold up; as I have already stated own it in dark brown and have had that jacket for seven years and it still looks great just a little worn. Carhartt is great product for durability and warmth so if unsure of this product take it from me you will love it, and buying on Amazon got it for a great price.
