Q: Is this an appropriate replacement for 2007 Volvo Xc90 Part # 8708581?

That would be a question for the maker of the compressor. It fit well on my 2002 Volvo S60 but that doesn't mean it will fit your 2007.

I used this unit to replace the part of my Volvo S60 sedan and it worked very well. The black part in the picture is the A/C clutch. If there is a problem in this clutch, you need to replace the unit (compressor plus clutch) as a whole. I am not sure whether it fits XC90.
