Great guitar that merits few bucks on better nut and play stock
2nd one, cant resist for the $ and quality. I like this one better, the peghead is slightly smaller than prior run of Firfefly. Last year model had a sorta oversized peghead. This one measures about 1/4” narrower at top peghead width than last firefly delivery. As with last year, the upper ears of body shape are not Gibson 335 styled but more Ibanez. As are f hole locations.Unlike prior firefly, which is a dream in all respects, the nut and machine heads (tuning pegs) are going to be immediately replaced.Pickups in both firefly guitars I have, as are electronics, great. Neck is also shaped different than last run of firefly stock. Not quite as beefy and little narrower. This firefly is also about a pound lighter than last years one I have.Great guitar to experiment and have fun with or play stock probably with just a synthetic nut install. But, nicer machine heads aren’t too bad, and neither is a roller bridge upgrade, maybe even a vibrato.

Surprising Professional Quality at a Budget Pric!
As my headline indicates, I consider this guitar for professionals at any level. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I am pleased with the tunes and do NOT plan to change. The strings on the guitar ai received were obviously and very lightly played. So, I gave them a few break-in tugs to help them settle in. Apparently, it worked, since they are staying in tune. The overall quality is quite good. There are absolutely no flaws on the instrument at all. The fretboard is heavily coated and requires removal prior to use to avoid blackening on the hands. I assume the coating is to help protect the neck in-transit. Regardless, it is not difficult to remove. I recommend apply g conditioner to the fretboard one it is clean (you may even be able to use the conditioner as a cleaner if you use a good one. The best I’ve found are sold by and as PRS.The one possible negative for some musicians might be the instruments balance. It is slightly top heavy at the headstock end. I do not have an issue because it is so minor, but I wanted to mention it. Also, if it does bother you, you can work around it depending upon what type of strap used. Now I’m hoping they start selling other models...

really bad qc
Guitar arrived and at first seemed generally about what you would expect for a guitar for $139. There were a number of blemishes in the finish,; the fret buzz was so bad that the guitar was essentially unplayable without repair. The last straw was that the guitar arrived with a crack in the neck. I was looking forward to keeping it, but there was no way. I ended up sending it back, especially since Firefly didn't respond with any interest in rectifying the situation.

For The Price-Good, But May Need Work
Overall, for the money, this deal cannot be beat. Have been playing a long, long time, and I wish I had a guitar like this when I first started, would have been even more motivated! Anyhow, back to the guitar: The finish on my one (blue transparent burst) was very good overall, save for a 2 inch dark mark on the side of the neck by fret markers. Is not a deal breaker, but does not affect playability. Pickups are decent sounding, knobs turn fairly freely. My major problem is with the string buzz. I expected that it would probably need some sort of remedy to make it sound and play its best, and the nut is the culprit. It is cut too low on mine, particularly on the 6th, 3rd, and 2nd string. Causing tuning issues and lots of fret buzz, esp on the open strings. Ordering a new nut to replace the existing one, and hoping that will remedy problem. Other than that, it plays well, sounds good, and for the price, it is very hard to beat.

Can't complain for this price!
For $140 this guitar can't be beat you would have to spend a little more than twice as much to get a hollow Bodie guitar like this from any name brand. I can't really complain this guitar came set up fairly well, fret ends aren't sharp the action was set up a bit low where I had some fret buzz, but nothing a little twist of the truss rod didn't fix, it has D'Adario strings on it even that finish is pretty good as well not perfect but good and the top wood is actually really pretty!

Wow. Worth every penny and about 30,000 additional pennies.
This guitar is a bit of a head scratcher. They got all the hard parts right, and the easy parts are a bit lacking. The hard parts are the wood parts of the guitar. The body, the neck, the finish, for me were pretty much flawless. Very minor finish issues but nothing worth mentioning here. If you'd like to my in depth review of the fit and finish I have a video on YouTube you can hunt down on my channel, The Tape Farm. The neck is amazing. Fret work is not just great for a guitar of this price, but guitar costing 3 times as much. The frets needed a good polish, but that was it.So while they got the hard stuff right, the easy stuff could have been better. What's the easy stuff? The Pickups, the bridge and the tuners. All are pretty bad. The picks are extremely microphonic and at time pretty harsh. The bridge had secondary vibrations that were picked up by the pickup and contributed to the harsh tone. The tuners were pretty much useless. I spent more time tuning this guitar than I did playing it. All easy fixes, which I did. If you'd like to see and hear the upgrades check out this video there's a second video with those on the channel as well.My upgrades were not high end pricey parts. Everything was very reasonably priced, but made a world of difference. This guitar is now one of my favorite guitars in my collection. It plays great, sounds great, looks great... what more do you need?My final verdict is this is a fabulous guitar if you're willing to put in a little work. This is NOT a good first guitar for a beginner, unless you can get the parts replaced that really MUST be replaced, namely the pick ups, bridge and tuners. But after very easy mods this guitar is amazing.
