Digital games crash often.
So for the most part this SD reader is functional, the problem is when you have a digital copy of a game (or the downloaded data is saved to your microSD).When playing these types of games, the software would crash much more often than with the OEM reader, especially if the console entered sleep mode while software was running. After waking the console back up, I could rarely play for 10 minutes before it would crash. If you usually/exclusively play physical copies of games, just make sure that the downloaded data is on internal memory and you shouldn't run into many problems. That said, I am not one of those people, and now I have to buy an OEM part elsewhere.Disclaimer: it is possible that this error was due to damage to my console's motherboard, however I don't see it being likely, since I only have this issue under certain circumstances and save files have never been an issue.

Exactly as described, easy installation.
Took 15 minutes to tear the switch down and install the new one. Works perfect. Follow a guide and anyone can do it.

Defective item. Ribbon cable damaged and doesn't work.
The product is super easy to install but the ribbon cable is not at all like the OEM part. It's super sensitive and cheap quality. It was broken when I received it

Better than my stock Switch micro SD card reader.
My Switch's stock card reader felt mushy like you were sliding the card past a small bit of leftover bubblegum residue. Because the stock card reader worked despite this, I let it slide until over a year later when my Switch started telling me I had to restart it because the micro SD card had been removed. This became a regular issue, so I started shopping for a replacement card reader. I settled on this particular card reader replacement because of the price (less than $10 when I bought it versus $15-$20 from other sellers) and because the product pictures show the replacement reader including the black piece of foam over the connector. The card reader came in a little silver colored bubble wrap envelope in a box with some other items I had ordered. The envelope had come open in the box or was never sealed in the first place, so my very first impression of this product was not exactly positive. Inside the silver bubble wrap was a smaller ziplock bag just big enough to contain the card reader. Your experience my be different, but my card reader did not have the foam over the connector. This was disappointing...and I felt misled by this card reader's product pictures. Regardless, I installed this card reader (using the foam from my old card on top of the connector), and it works. I haven't had a single micro SD card reader error since installing this. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.Advice: I used the ifixit guide for replacing this part. This seller was kind enough to supply a link to this guide in the product description. The guide is mostly ok, but there are some things you should know. You need 2 (and only 2) screwdrivers. You need a Tri-point Y00 screwdriver or bit to remove the Switch's back cover, and a JIS#000 screwdriver or bit for everything else. This is important. The ifixit guide has a typo (I hope it's a typo) telling you to use a JIS#0 screwdriver to remove the center screws in the joycon rails. This is the wrong size. Also, you don't really need the tweezers the guide mentions. If you don't have a set of tweezers, don't sweat it.Removing the old card reader is the easy part. The guide fails to mention that installing the new reader can be a small pain. This reader has a very tiny connector that just snaps into place on the motherboard of the Switch. I thought I had my connector attached properly, reassembled my Switch, and was met with an error that said "SD card not detected" or something like that...I don't remember exactly. I had already reassembled my Switch and had to take it apart again to try and seat the connector properly. I'm telling you this to say: once you think your new card reader is connected, before putting your Switch back together, put the screw back into your card reader, insert your micro SD card and turn your Switch on. If everything loads up and you can access your card, congratulations...but if not at least you won't have to take your Switch apart a second time like I did.Hope I've said something here that helps you. Cheers.
