The only thing I don't get is that the tabs on the side, which are supposed to be screwed to the framing, are set back 1/2 inch which is fine for drywall, however, for tile you'll just need to bust them off and screw the box through the top and bottom (no biggie) its covered 99.9 percent of the time anyway. The reason being is that cement board for walls should be 1/2 inch, PLUS the average 3/8 inches for the tiles which is about 7/8 of an inch when done. Even if you go with 1/4 cement board, you're still looking at 5/8th offset. Either way, its worth having, nice and neat and small too! easy to cover with a decoration.

This is one of the many random things that my husband has bought from Amazon and I haven't heard any complaints! Seems to be good quality and doing the trick!

This AAV is 1 1/4" in diameter on the top
The description is wrong. The threaded part is 1 1/4" in diam. under you can glue 1 1/2 and 1 1/4"
