Well written and interesting story. As someone who knows India, quite believable. Also a good history of this time in India

Tale of an independent-minded Indian woman, ranging from her childhood to her breaking from tradition to reinvent herself. Reinvented, she can pursue her love of reading and becomes involved in politics during the turbulent era of the Partition. Well written and vividly descriptive of Indian culture. If you loved `A Suitable Boy' then you will enjoy this too.
