LeapFrog My Pal Violet (Frustration Free Packaging)

This is our son's 3rd LeapFrog Scout and he has a Violet too. It's his third one NOT because it is poorly made (it's actually made very well and the quality is great and super durable), it's his third because he loves it SO MUCH (he sleeps with it every night like a comfort blanket and Scout is his best bud and does everything with him, even now that he's a little older) and we wanted to tuck his first one his grandma bought him for Christmas when he was a baby away into his baby box before he wore it completely out. The 2nd one we got him was the newer version and slightly different than the original but still awesome and great quality. But of course he wanted another one exactly like his original and so we searched and found this for a really decent price. If you're debating whether you should buy a Scout or Violet for a little one in your life, just do it! Out of every toy and stuffie our son has received over the years, this has been the one he treasures and still loves the most.

This toy came highly recommended by my mother-in-law, who has bought one for all of my nieces and nephews over the years—and every single one of them has absolutely loved it! After watching a few YouTube videos to see how all the features work, I’m genuinely impressed by how cool, interactive, and engaging it is. The customization features make it feel so special. We bought it as a Christmas gift for our daughter, and I’m so excited to wrap it up and see her reaction on Christmas morning. Highly recommended for any parent or gift-giver!

I love this thing, it’s my go to gift when friends and family have a baby. The sounds help the baby’s self soothe and it works to have them start recognizing songs.

LOVE Scout and Violet so much for little ones. I have Violet from over 13 years ago. I was able to personalize my favorite songs for her in addition to the food, color and animal. This new Scout I just bought for my great nephew is a little louder than my Violet which is awesome. I am unable to personalize songs but I LOVE that there is now 5, 10, 15 minutes of bedtime music. My old Violet had 2min, 5min and 10min. You definitely need longer bedtime music and I love this new Scout has added more. Would highly recommend these little stuffed doggies so much!!!!! They really do go from 6 mos. to 36 mos. , my little great niece clung to Violet at bedtime from 9 mos. well into her toddler years.

My kids like My Pal Scout quite a bit, and so do I. It makes for a cute day toy! But the nighttime feature which I was excited about, is not worth anything. Like too many claims Leapfrog makes, it's misleading. I thought we could download songs into it, as in download songs we had into it. Their playful music for downloading is ok. I really wanted it for the nighttime music but it really isn't very pretty. Sounds kind of annoying and very synthetic. It would not relax me. But worse, once the nighttime music is started my son can press any of the paws and goodbye night music- Old McDonald might begin playing or B-I-N-G-O. It would only makes sense that a switch on the control would switch it into nighttime mode so it would stay in nighttime mode at night. Plus scout has a light for a tag. Why doesn't it light up for nighttime music time? Are you listening, Leapfrog? Fisher Price's Soothe and Glow Sea Horse is heads above this toy for nighttime! It plays gorgeous classical music and the sound is very good! You also hear relaxing water sounds with the music. Furthermore, it lights up a soft light! We've had it for over a year and used it every night of my son's life since. Unlike Scout, the electronic device can be pulled out and the seahorse can be put in the washer. Very nice feature, but I'll cut Leapfrog some slack on that. It would be difficult considering the controls are in Scouts paws. Scout could be good for both day and night, but leapfrog just didn't put the effort into it. Disappointing in that way! But again, we really like it in the day. Find out if it can say your child's name, because apparently it's limited that way. It says our sons name and that's a feature we really like. He's a cute puppy but more thought should have been put into it.

Entertains our toddler for a long time not a lot of customization but my toddler always gets a kick out of hearing their name and favorite food. It's built well and easy to setup.

This is an excellent gift for a child. It can be personalized. Scout will even say the child's name.

Bought for my son last Christmas. He was 10 months. At the time, I would say my 2.5 year old got more use out of it, but now at 18 months, he loves it. You can personalise it by plugging if in to the computer and choosing the child's name, favourite colour, favourite food and favourite animal. You can also choose which songs you would like it to play when they squeeze its paw, which is great for when they get too repetitive and annoying. Not all children's names are available as you must choose from a library, rather than inputting any name, although there are plenty to choose from. There is a paw to squeeze to sing songs, including a song about the child's name and one about their favourite things; a foot to squeeze for bedtime mode, so he will play lullabies for a chosen number of minutes to help your child sleep; and the collar lights up in four different colours when some songs are played. The other paw enables you to play games with Scout, like guessing an object he's describing, and the left foot switches him on and off. There is also a volume control inside scout on his battery pack which enables you to switch from high to low. Neither I find offensive, but low is quite quiet (although we have a busy house so may not be if you have less children!), so we usually have him on high volume so my son can hear him. We find that sufficient for night time lullabies too. A great little toy for a brilliant price that my son loves, and when he grows out of it, I can reprogram it for him little sister, so can get plenty of use out of it! He is very cuddly despite his battery pack and a good size too. Overall, a fantastic toy with some educational value that I imagine we will get a good few years of play from, at a cheap price. Well worth the money I think.
