How do you attach it to the fabric?

Attach it in the embroidery hoop ,lay it on the bottom hoop then material then lay top part of hoop on top tighten them altogether Then ready to embroid .

Will this size of stabiliser work with a 5x7 hoop?

Our 10 x 12 inch precut stabiliser exactly fit for a 5x7 hoop, 10inchx50 yd and 20inchx25 yd stabilisers whose length can be cut into any sizes as your need to fit different hoops. We still have 8x8inch precut stabiliser fitting for a 4x4inch hoop, If all the choices are still too small to fit your hoop, I suggest that you can use a temporary spray adhesive to make the stabiliser stick to the fabric.

Does it feel like paper or it's it soft

It is paper like,rather than a soft fabric. I bought this because of the larger width roll which will accommodate my larger hoop.
