I've been looking for a different manufacturer to replace the Heath/Zenith units I've been using. Those last awhile but then fail in less than a year, at least in my experience. The Cooper went straight to work and performs just as needed and described. There is an indicator light to show power is on and a photo cell to keep the light from coming on during the day. Also, a 4 or 12 minute delay off selector plus the sensitivity/range dial. One word of caution though. Use a tool (pliers, strap wrench, etc., to screw the unit into the base plate. I know better and I still used the assembly for leverage. The "elbow" is plastic and is a small bit at that. Certainly not meant to handle that sort of load. Fortunately the screw was long enough and I removed the broken off part and put the screw back in and had enough thread to secure it with. I bought two of these units to replace two Heath/Zenith 5316s, one of which was nearly new. The Heath/Zenith 5316 sensors were problematic from the start and were too unreliable to give real peace of mind for their coverage areas. Various weather conditions would make them stop working altogether. The local home improvement and hardware stores only carry the Heath/Zenith products or the same products under a different brand name, but fortunately we're no longer at the mercy of the local store and what they have in stock. I have both of my Cooper MS180Ws installed and both are working perfectly. I've had chances to test them in weather conditions under which the Heath/Zenith units failed (cool and/or very humid) and they continued to work flawlessly. They are a bit physically larger than the Zenith 5316 but this is apparently to accomodate an oversized lens, which I have to believe helps with it's more consistent detection range and ability. This unit has a brighter, round LED located on the bottom and works opposite of the Zenith model. The LED stays on constantly to show that the unit is in the "armed" condition and blinks off when motion is detected. Also, unlike the ones they replaced, these units make an audible click when triggered, meaning they probably have a more robust relay than the Zenith models. The best part is that they're reliable. I now feel confident that the areas these units are monitoring are protected, and that's the main purpose for me. I would absolutley recommend this unit to everyone looking for a low-cost, reliable motion sensor and would definitely recommend it over it's competitor's weak offerings.

All-Pro MS180 Came with wire nuts and wires were labeled for easy installation, plus clear instructions (although the diagrams could have been clearer). Works with the led floodlight I wired it to; whereas the old sensor this replaced would cause the light to flash every couple seconds, wouldn't sense motion reliably, and would remain on constantly sometimes, this one does none of those. It reliably turns on with a click, and then off after a set time, and doesn't turn on during daylight thanks to the light sensing diode. It does not have sensitivity adjustment, though that didn't turn out to be a problem for me, it's something to be aware of. The time adjustment is arbitrary, probably just a simple circuit, so you have to figure out the range/scale yourself. Anyway, works well for my purposes. If you have an led light that flashes as long as it has power, you might consider this sensor to replace your existing one. It may not be the best, but at least it works.

This is the best motion sensor switch I have come across and for lower cost than many. A lot of motion sensors on the market, whether already installed on a light fixture or as a stand alone or replacement sensor, do not function with non-incandescent or non-halogen bulbs, nor can they be used as switches for other applications. This one does. I bought two and use them as motion sensor switches for operating an outdoor CFL light circuit and for operating an outdoor night time intrusion alert. This device performs that function just as I need with very few false activations. Most motion sensors I have used over the years produce frequent false activations from wind, weather changes, bugs, or just seemingly random activations. This Cooper sensor rarely ever does so, mainly when a significant cold front moves through before a thunderstorm that quickly drops the temperature 10 to 15+ degrees F in combination with significantly blowing wind (e.g., blowing leaves etc., across the sensor zone) is the only time I have observed false activations. Also the light sensor activates the motion sensor at the appropriate low light conditions. If you want to use this device as a motion sensor in daylight conditions, the photo-electric sensor can simply be covered over. Device comes with clear instructions.

I already had outside flood lights, but they were not motion sensor. I used this MS180 to convert them to motion sensor. There are probably better motion sensor units on the market, but probably not for this price. I thought I was getting false triggers until I looked out the window. First it was a deer walking through the yard, next time it was a dog, then the other day, an opossum triggered the lights. It is that sensative. The MS180 has been operational for about a month now. Time will tell how durable it is. The ability to switch modes to a static dusk-to-dawn light is a nice added feature. To switch to dusk-to-dawn, just turn the light OFF and ON TWICE within a three second period. (i.e. OFF-ON-OFF-ON) Make sure the light is in the ON position before you start the sequence. It will automatically reset to motion sensor mode after one day. Several people have said this unit will NOT work with LED flood lights. I am using two 10w (65w equivilance) LED flood lights in my unit. LED lights WORK perfectly fine for me. In fact the lower heat given off by LEDs may help reduce false triggers.

Update June 2023. Still working fine. I installed three of these about a year ago, all still working fine. Two are installed inside of a garage, the other up under a porch roof, so well protected from the elements. Installation was typical for this type product, and after a little adjustment the range and sensitivity is exactly what I want. At the time of purchase these were under $12 apiece, and for that price the quality is good. I have used several different brands of motion detectors over the years, and these inexpensive types rarely hold up when placed in locations subject to direct sunlight. For those applications, I go ahead and spend the money for something better, saving money in the long run by not having to replace them so frequently. But for the indoor/protected installation where I have these Eaton units, I expect them to last for a long time.

I had a problem in that the remote light & sensor were mounted high and to the back of my back door. When I opened the door at night I had to come down four steps before the motion sensor sensed that I was there and turned on the light. Not much help at getting me down the steps with some light. I remote mounted this unit on the front face of the garage under the overhang & routed the wiring back into the house & up to the wall switch. Now, when the back door is opened, the light comes on instantly and lights up the steps. The remote location also senses motion coming up the driveway and turns on the light. I asked Cooper for their approval of my plan and they said I should not do it. But I did anyway and it works fantastically!! The nice part was that after looking over the wiring diagram from Cooper I discovered I only had to route the wiring from the remote up to the wall switch inside the back door, and not all the way up to the light fixture. Then I just snipped the wires from the original remote on the high light fixture and taped them up. Who says old guys can't think of new things to keep them busy?

Previous review altered, see edits. EDIT: After a few months, I am downgrading one more star. I am getting a lot of false triggers now, and I have no idea why. There have been perfectly calm, still evenings where it triggers all the time, and blustery rainy nights where it doesn't go off as much. Seems random to me, and I can't figure out what is triggering it. Kind of annoying, hence the lower stars. EDIT 2: It's January 19, only a few months after I bought the item, and this item is now broken! The motion sensor light will not go off, even in daytime. I have tried resetting, and even turned off the breaker to this and nothing. Wow, what a piece of junk, less than 3 months before becoming useless! 0 stars!!! EDIT 3: Aye yai yai! Now it works fine again!!! What the heck is going on with this thing? As the previous updates show, the thing goes from working ok, to not working at all, to now, working even better than when I originally got it?!?! Now I'm getting fewer false triggers, and it does not stay on constantly. I have no idea what happened, other than one of the bulbs burned out in my 3-way light and I replaced it. Maybe the bulb shorted out and zapped this thing into shape! Whatever...it works well now, and I'm happy with it again. But what a weird series of events...
