interesting product
i'm not going too deep into this. a comparable device can be diy built from a bottle and dryer sheets. I scoffed at that concept until I witnessed it. It did not merely mask the smell, but eliminated any smoke odor. Smoke came out, and I smelled it in awe as it had no smoke smell. Smoke that doesn't smell like smoke. crazy. This is a heartier solution. Its built to last a while, and its worked under very limited use for at least a couple months now. If you indulge in such a way that allows second stream smoke, you will not be pleased. This only filters the smoke you exhale. Pipes can control second stream smoke if you learn to use them with that concept in mind. If you are smoking a paper cigarette, it will likely cut down on odor, but if you are aiming for all or nothing this will not mask your use of substances that produce smoke. If you are consuming paper cigarettes, that is. This is also good for vaping. Vapers will say that vape doesn't need filtering because there is no smell. This is not true. The smell is attenuated but also different and it depends on the vitality of the material you are using. I breathe in through my nose and exhale three times, so that no traces of smoke escape from my lungs nose or pharynx. Inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth, do not break contact with the device, press solidly into one's lips, and exhale. After 3 exhalations, I cap the mouth side of the device because a nominal odor is present on that side. It is weak, but it is there. In addition to this, if you still produce an odor, a successful technique is to get a skillet and put a teaspoon of olive oil in it and turn the burner on high. Or take an non stick oil spray and coat the burner in an oven and turn in on high. If using the oven be careful that carbon deposits due not catch fire. If they do, a little water will do just fine. This will vaporize the oil which has a very effective attenuative effect on smoke odors. This will not prevent long term odors, but its good in a pinch. It helps if you are known to actually cook, as many forms of cooking involve browning and blackening meats.

By far the best spoof i have every used!
I have been smoking and vaping for over 15 years and have used many a spoof to cover my tracks. I now only vape but this thing still works just as well if not better with vapor. Moving anywhere near someone who doesn't smoke can be stressful for me but especially if I know I won't have the opportunity to go outdoors. In the past, this would lead me to use a spoof; generally a Poland spring bottle with lots of tiny pin holes on the bottom filled with drier sheets, ozium or what ever helps eliminate smoke. The problem with spoofs is they really don't work. Their also pretty irritating to make as you need to find the right size bottle, then finding the filler is even more frustrating as drier sheets are not always handy. Ontop of all that, you need to use it several times to get the airflow right and to figure out how much, if any, smoke it removes. Normally this results in air that smells both like Lysol and weed but is rarely effective. (it also begs the question.."Why does it smell like Lysol and weed in here?") With the smoke buddy, i can take a huge, milky bag of volcano vapor and the result will be no smell in the room. Its pretty amazing to see a bag full of vapor just disappear as it goes through the device. I'm pretty sure the "magic" inside is just activated carbon as i am familiar with its carbon scrubbing attributes but man, does it ever work! The most smoke or vapor you'll see will undoubtedly come from the gap between the plastic mouthpiece and your mouth. It can be a bit tricky to get it to seal properly (especially if you have a beard) but if you stick your lips out just right, absolutely nothing will come out the other end. This thing is so effective, its a MUST have if you light up in the car. You'll feel just as stupid as i did once you realize this things been around while you've been doing arts and crafts with water bottles and drier sheets all these years!

It Works and the Price is Right
Purchased for "stealth smoking" and to avoid irritating others with strong-smelling smoke. Originally I considered the travel version but after reading reviews went with the original and I'm glad I did! It's already a pretty small size and fits easily in my purse (though if you're a small purse person, Idk if this or the travel version would work for you or not). And since you're wondering: yes, IT WORKS! Both my husband and myself were impressed at how effective this was at diffusing smoke and eliminating smell. Very little scent/smoke lingers which is very important if you're an indoor or stealth smoker. It works MUCH better than the "homemade" versions and the price is right. All that remained is what was coming off of the pipe itself. I really can't believe we've gone years without this as we certainly plan to purchase more. Tips: - Shout out to "Amazon Customer" review on 8/17/16 for this tip: "Pair it with some cotton balls on the inside to catch the nasty brown resin and it will last you 4x longer than expected without clogging the filter." - Be sure to put the lids back on when you're finished to preserve your Smoke Buddy. Leaving 4/5 stars for now -- will add a 5th star if it earns it after more use. (We don't use it at home much).

The Smoke Buddy Works Really Well
As an older guy, I'm heading into a retirement apartment and since I've been living in houses for decades, I knew I was going to need to look for something to at least seriously mask the smell of the pungent goods I am used to. It's legal here, but I'm not looking to irritate anyone but myself. I read a bunch of reviews first, and settled on trying the Smoke Buddy. I read about some folks trouble as well as its benefits. What I want to share is that the Smoke Body works. It's unbelievable how well it works. I've now tried the unit with several leafy goods, each more pungent than the previous. No smoke, and no scent. The only trouble I had was not the Buddy's fault, but with my not exhaling 100 PCT. into the unit. You really have to be sure you blow out every last bit of smoke into the Buddy for it to be thoroughly effective and produce a completely smokeless, and odorless toke. Along with burning essential oils in an atomizer, there is no longer scent of any kind, though it would certainly be wise to cover your bowl between tokes to ensure you stay scentless, if that's a consideration. I've read that one potential problem for some would be the size of the mouth piece. You want a truly tight seal to make the unit work, and that mouth piece is a full 1 1/2 inch in diameter. That sounds small, but is larger than it sounds. I haven't had it long enough to speak to it's longevity. I do recommend reading all the reviews to learn about drying the unit, and it's reported longevity. Once again, the Smoke Buddy works. I don't review too often, but the Smoke Buddy gets my vote. Here's an update. Searching online informed that by carefully layering paper toweling into the intake chamber, you can extend the life of your Buddy. I've done this and with each paper towel change the odor is also removed from the intake chamber. Also after heavy use there's been literally no smell of any kind from the exhaust chamber. I'm a fan.

Gotta Blow Hard
I usually smoke at home or in the office. My old setup for getting smoke out was to take a rectangular piece of plexiglass and have a cutout in it to fit my little 6 inch desk fan and use it as a window fan. I got one in my office, and one at home. This works, but still fills the room with the smell of burnt tobacco. Just got the smokebuddy and decided to have a long 2hr smoke. What I had was a Gurkha 7x52 cigar. Here's the pros & cons: PROS: - lightweight - small - gets rid of most of the burnt tobacco odor. - comes with caps. I'd imagine after using it many times, it'd start to smell, the caps will keep the smells contained. CONS: - you need to use your face to make a tight seal on the smokebuddy, or else smoke will leak. - gotta blow hard, as if you are trying to inflate an air mattress with your lungs. - I got really lightheaded after taking a few exhales through the smokebuddy, not even 1/3 of the way into my smoke, and I was quite nauseous from blowing so hard on the smokebuddy to get it to filter out all the smoke. - filter can not be replaced. once it's clogged, you need to buy a new one. Thing for the company to improve on: - have an o-ring/gasket on the exhale end aka where you put you mouth in end - have a looser pack of filter material, can be a thicker pack, just not as tight - change the product so it'll take exchangeable cartridges, I'd rather small packs of filters than $20 smokebuddies one after another. ======= Overall, for the price, it's worth the buy. I'll still be using my fan setup because the smokebuddy does not take care of all the smoke, and the occasional leak from not shoving my face against it. Blowing through this thing, is really annoying, and I stopped using it all together half-way into my 7" cigar. I wasn't getting lightheaded from the nicotine, but instead from the smoke filter. It works, but needs improvements.

Used this for years. I buy 6-7 a year. Works exactly as advertised. I will be buying these forever I imagine. Highly suggested!
I've been buying these forever. They work exactly as advertised, and eliminate all smoke and odor from that smoke that you blow through the filter. The total life of the filter varies widely by the rate you use it daily. We get about 40 days of quality usage, and as a household we probably use the filter 16 to 20 times a day. I say quality because you could keep using it, but it gets harder to blow through. At some point you'll get a headache and that's when you stop - about 60 days for us. If I used one personally and didn't share, I'd get a solid 6 to 9 months.
