HARDEST ALBUM?!
Absolutely. This CD is guitarist Brad Delson's show and he doesn't disappoint. Also, frontman Mike Shinoda obviously learned some things on the mixing board from guru Rick Rubin. HIGHLIGHTS: "War". I thought I was listening to Bad Religion; the song cranks! True, the main riff has been used before (check out Social Distortion's "Mass Hysteria" or D.O.A.'s "F-ed Up Baby/Ronnie), but this tune is awesome. "Rebellion" featuring D. Malakian of System of a Down is also blistering. Thought I was listening to SOAD. Would love to hear Serj sing it as well. The first song, the last song, EVERY SONG is great. What's more interesting is how the band did a complete 180 on the next LP, but they were that good to do so. To me, possibly the best US band ever. It will be interesting to see how Bennington's replacement does (a female - which was the logical segue, for no male singer could have his range). Great album.

A Spectacular Return to Form....LP at It's Rocking Finest!!!
There comes a time to veer off from an established course and remove an external influence no matter how influential and highly regarded that influence might be. Don't get me wrong. Rick Rubin co-producing along side Mike Shinoda, the three studio albums after the highly regarded Hybrid Theory and Meteora, crafted some very fine music while taking some risks as he and LP explored new sonic territories. And, obviously, LP, was on-board with Rubin helping to steer their sound from Minutes to Midnight, through A Thousand Suns and finally Living Things. Were it otherwise, they would have parted from the very highly sought Rubin, sooner. I suspect Shinoda considered the teaming a learning experience and soaked in all he could from the master producer. And he knew it was time to say adios to Rubin and grab the wheel himself....well, not himself, as he co-produced again, but this time with LP guitarist Brad Delson, keeping production internal to LP (except for some touches on some colloborations with some talented external musicians). And the result, sans Rubin? It's a powerful, in your face, rock record which sees the band losing the "electronic" sound and experimental directions forged with Rubin and returning to their earlier, more traditional rock sound. And, the change was much welcomed and very successful, in my opinion, creating their finest album since their breakthrough debut, Hybrid Theory, which had, it seemed, everyone taking notice and begging for more. Well, it took several albums, but we, and Linkin Park, finally got it. Thanks guys! (Aside: Hey Auerbach and Carney...what do you say you learn something from LP, and end your similar long term association with your producer Danger Mouse, which seems to have become extremely comfortable for you but sees many of your long term fans begging for a return to that early, rawer Black Keys sound).

Just what I wanted and expected
Came on time and well packaged. Cut a couple scratches or cracks on the case, but cd was great!

More of a screw you album directed to some fans
I like this album the more I listen to it, granted I can do without the extra childs voice and other talking voices dubbed in. To me it's more of a middle finger response pointed out to the naysayers of the middle albums. It's a heavier feeling which is fine with me because some days I need more weighted music at the end of a strenuous work day. I actually really like the middle albums and I tend to play those in my rotation more (grew up in the 80's) That's what I love about LP, different feeling albums that suit my mood of the day.

HEAVIEST ALBUM I'VE HEARD OF THEM - LOVE THESE TALENTED MEN ALWAYS.
AS ALWAYS - LOVE ALL LINKIN PARK ALBUMS, THIS ONE SOMEHOW I MISSED AND NOW THAT I HAVE IT - GOT IT YESTERDAY AND CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT!!! I MUST SAY SO FAR THIS ALBUM IS THE HEAVIEST I'VE HEARD FROM THIS WONDERFUL GROUP OF PURE BRILLIANT TALENT. ( STILL BEYOND HEARTBROKEN THOUGH... ) BEEN LISTENING TO LINKIN PARK SINCE THEY STARTED TO GET POPULAR IN 1999 AND STILL GOING AND STILL WILL BE PLAYING MY ALBUMS TILL I DIE. I LOVE HOW THEY CAN SWITCH UP THEIR STYLES SO AMAZINGLY, LIKE THAT HEAVY AND SOFT MIXTURE, WITH HARD AND LITE GOOD RAP WITH HARD CORE SCREAMING METAL AND THEN A POP STYLE IN THE NEWER ALBUM, BUT NO COMPLAINTS HERE AT ALL. THIS ENTIRE ALBUM AND ALL OF THEM I AM LOVING EVERY SINGLE SONG STILL. R.I.P CHESTER : (

Another album with a few decent songs.
I just don't know exactly what it is about this album but I just hate it. The drums seems to be the major issue with most of the songs. The beats just do not sound great at all. Just like with their more recent albums I will hate most every song but a couple may grow on to me as decent songs to listen to when I am in the mood for this genre of music. The songs I believe may grow on me are Final Masquerade, Guilty All The Same, Wastelands, and Until it's Gone. In time I may increase my rating depending on if I like more songs or not. It is just too bad that Linkin Park moved away from the Nu-Metal sound that made them so popular.
