Ready for action! The backback...me not so much.
Bought this for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica and wanted something that could take a beating and probably get wet. Backpack arrived on time and in great condition. The quality was excellent and much better than expected. Rugged and good looking (just like me). This was definitely not a cheap knock off but a solid well made military style backpack. I will purchase a waterproof bag for the interior just to make sure everything stays dry (just like back in the day). The pack was advertised as "water and tear resistant" and practical yet adorable (OMG me again)!!!** I will update my review when I return from the jungle.*** Okay I am back and the Backpack worked out like a champ. I was not aware that it was expandable and that feature really came in handy. I made it through the airport and TSA with no problems but, would advise to not overfill, I used this as my carry on item and it would not fitunder the seat on the plane. I did pack the hell out of it though. I also never really made it to the jungle after all.

Great for the price, but not great
I was looking for a pack for a teenager that wouldn't fall apart. In this price range I got the expected cheaper coated fabric, stitching is ok and not bartacked. The structure is quite soft. I purchased two as the price was so cheap and I knew that my other military packs were the right size. These fit a 13 year old girl and actually hold all the books they need in school. The construction is relatively robust. It won't pass muster if you compare it to Maxpedition or Blackhawk (I have both). But in the thirty dollar range you have to have realistic expectations about quality. Still, I think it will hold up to lesser brands like SOC (my major uses that one).

Not so great
Cheap straps. As soon as my boyfriend tried it on, as an empty bag, the straps immediately came unraveled from the plastic thread. Even after I rethreaded the strap, it still got loose because it was just made cheaply and couldn’t hold.

I feel like it's only a matter of time before I tear ...
I have used this backpack for over a month daily now and can say it has held up very well. I feel like it's only a matter of time before I tear something, as my zippers constantly get caught on the fabric. I only took away a single star because it feels like the straps are positioned too low on the backpack - the backpack slides off my shoulders easily if on only one shoulder because the weight balance is off due to the straps. Based on the picture it looks like the shoulder straps are stitched all the way to the too, but they actually are loose starting about 6 in from the top (to accommodate another pouch).

Highly efficient use of space
I've waited to write this review because often times people were after a day. I wanted to put milage and use into this backpack.I bought it specifically for airline travel to do weekend and week long trips without the need to check luggage. This bag has been perfect. I have for a week if clothes and a weekend of clothes. There was once I traveled with a Wii, 10 games, the controllers, a Switch, laptop, noise cancelling headphones and clothing. It all for under the seat. I used both the inside and outside compression straps. The bag has fit under the seat on Spirit and Frontier airlines; just make sure to turn it sideways.I have not tried camping with it yet, but would highly recommend for traveling.

Good Travel Backpack and Expandable
I like this backpack. It has a lot of room and it's expandable. Without the expanded panel, it's a lot of storage, but with the expanded panel, it's huge. It even has internal straps to secure your items inside. The back compartment has a hydration slot for a drinking tube or cables for your laptop. The material is sturdy, the interior is rubberized to make it water resistant. I don't think it's waterproof due to all the stitching. The backpack is very comfortable to wear, and the top handle is very convenient. Only 2 small issues:1) The zippers tend to stick, especially the zippers for the smaller front pouches. It seems to have trouble when going around the small radius turns, but one zipper also sticks on a straight run. I've lubricated all the zipper teeth with a zipper lubricant (Zipper Stick from Gear Aid) and a teflon oil. It improved the smoothness of the zipper, but it still sticks a little here and there. I have the same zipper issue with another backpack I brought last year. I'm not sure what the deal is with zippers these days, but I have a 20-year old backpack from Jansport with a nylon zipper and it runs very smooth without any issues from day one. The zipper from Jansport has smaller fine teeth, while this backpack has larger teeth. Maybe that's the culprit and cause.2) The side compression strap (on the right side) crosses the bottom of the mesh water bottle holder. Please see the attached 2 pictures. It may not be an issue if your water bottle is metal or a hard plastic, but if your water bottle is the disposable crush-able type, then you lose the use of the bottom third of the mesh bottle holder, so your water bottle may stick out the top a bit. Even if you have a metal water bottle, do you really want to loosen the strap every time to get a drink of water?Overall, I'm very happy with the backpack and would recommend it to anyone looking for a travel backpack. A lot of capacity and features, and good material and build.

Worth the money you pay for it!
Love this backpack! Sturdy and has enough room for the mass amount of college books, binders, folders, and so much more. There is literally a slot for almost everything you could possible think of needing for a trip or school!
