Beautiful, Better than New!
I bought this because the fur on my jacket was matted after putting it in the dryer, like so many other reviewers. My Columbia jacket was set up so that the old fur unbuttoned off the hood as seen in my first picture. I measured the old fur piece, and got a size that was close. I marked the button placement onto the quilted portion of the back of the new fur and sewed the buttons that were included. I liked it, but then I sewed the quilted edges closer together (but didn’t cover the buttons) so that it didn’t show as much. Wow! It looks so lux now!! I am so impressed, and grateful a product like this even exists! The jacket looks even better than it originally did. I bought the grey one! I absolutely recommend it!

Very very fluffy and pretty, but hard to sew, and missing some loops.
Almost too fluffy for a men's coat, when the horizontal ends are sewn close together on the hood. It makes a 4" deep fur tunnel around my husband's face. It's more puffy than the original ruff on the coat that I destroyed in the dryer. (Learned a hard lesson about polyester and using even the lowest heat!) Looks luxurious on his over-sized parka though. Beautiful color like a silver fox. Doesn't shed. Will reqiure occasional brushing to prevent it matting up. It would do a great job of protecting against the wind, cold, and snow if worn how the Alaskans traditionally do. It's not just for show. It will keep you warm. There are 5 or 6 loops missing, that were never sewn on. So attaching it as intened, by sewing each loop to the edges of the original hood or hood flap, requires some modification. However, I ended up pinning it onto the extra-thick seam edge using 8 4" super jumbo safety pins. He doesn't use the hood enough to worry about them coming undone, plus I poked them through 2 or 3 times each for security. I really wish I could find a ruff with a zipper like the original but they are very expensive if you can even find them. Later I may consider sew-on snaps if he uses the coat a lot.Instead of replacing the fur on the coat, I had to remove the entire zipped ruff-attachment the coat came with because removing the fur would have requied removing stitches for the entire seam. Re-sewing the seam would require a sewing machine. So I pinned this new ruff directly to the hood's seam without the removable zipper attachment. It worked out because the new fur is about 3 inches deeper (fluffier) than the original so would have created a 7 inch tunnel around his face that he couldn't see through.Overall I love the fluffy, beatiful protective fur, but the design for attaching it, and lack of quality control with the loops, makes it difficult to apply. I made it work, but it would require more effort and equipment than I have to attach it properly. However it's the best, affordable option on Amazon.

Check buttons and good if you attach folded over jacket hood rim
When I opened up the packaging I was impressed by the backing. It's thick and kind of heavy and has plenty of space for the buttons to go however when I started applying the buttons there's been a few issues. One side of the fur has three loops for buttons while the other side has several. The side with several, should obviously be the front of the hood, right? Well, that side doesn't look as good as the other side so I also realized that the only one that has a center alignment loop is the side with three loops. I aligned the center loop with the front of the hood and started to tack on the buttons for the loops. You sew the buttons onto the hood and the fur comes with loops. They send you just enough buttons to do the job however one of my buttons is a half button (broken) and for the cost of the fur I think they should have sent extra buttons because now I have to take these buttons to the store and match them up to get one the same size. The way the front is, you will see the buttons as they are clear and stick out. What I think they should have done is make them the same color as the fur. I got black with white tips and I am sewing it onto a black hood so black buttons would make sense. I have not completely finished however because the way it aligned and looked the best was the three buttons towards the face I will have to tack stitch it on to help cut the wind down. Which means every time that I wash this I will have to untack it and then retack stitch it back after the jacket dries. On the pictures that shows you fluffing it with a blow dryer of course you would put it on cool air. It doesn't matter what I do it seems to basically stay flat. With the flat backer it's almost impossible to actually fluff the fur. After reading another review, they say they were told to fold it over the rim of the jacket hood. I wish it had instructions. The pics show several buttons along the rim of the hood so I folded it over and put it on. It works but still will definitely had to stitch along the front to block wind.

Stunning!
I bought the Raccoon with black tips. It is gorgeous, full, and soft, and looks like real fur. I handwashed it gently and hung it to dry, and it remained just as soft. Like many other folks, I tumble-dried a coat, ruining its faux fur collar. The elastic loops of this lining perfectly fit the existing buttons of my coat's hood, so I didn't even need to sew on buttons. The elastic loops proved very strong - they stayed in tact while I wrestled them over the existing buttons which may have been a bit too large. The fur lining I received is VERY good quality for the price and makes the coat seems more expensive.

Full and beautiful as advertised
The 1st picture is the original collar on a coat I purchased for Christmas for my daughter. The collar didn't look anything like what was advertised. The second and third pictures are with the new piece I ordered on Amazon and added over the original collar. Huge difference and completely changed the coat. We may add additional pieces around the cuffs and possibly around the top of a pair of black boots. It took a little effort for me to get sort of a 'rhythm' for how to attach this but got easier as I went and was well worth it. The piece came with buttons and thread in various colors, but I used my own. There wasn't a lot of thread and I sewed the buttons on pretty sturdily.
