Snap the pen in place
Note that the pen clicks, or 'snaps,' into place. One night the pen was put into the combo holder cap, but not clicked into position, and I had to draw some test lines on paper to get the ink flowing well. The delay was less than 30 seconds, but the point is that I will click it in position next time.I like it. I would buy it again. It writes on paper and bare steel, like for cut lines. It does well at making dots, like for a prick punch. The tip is like a felt-tip pen, so lines are not fine (not impressively narrow). If you need very fine lines (in drafting, lightweight), then practice and decide to use the middle, or edge, or a different marking tool.It feels good in the hand, is ergonomic, and fulfills a need. No other marking tool I own can reach into a tight space and write on metal as well as this. For metalwork, this has become my go-to tool. It is simply more comfortable than using a carbide-tipped scribe. Perhaps someone can figure out how to put both technologies into one marking tool.

It works!
I work as a handyman and bought this to mark things that my pencils wouldn't. It seemed nice out of the packaging but before I even had a chance to use it was dried up. I kept it in its holder the whole time so I don't know how you are suppose to stop this from happening.**EDIT**After my initial review I had placed this marker in a cup in the laundry room. Out of curiosity I took it down and was going to see if I could get it to work and somehow it is now working perfectly.

Recipes
I first used this type pen when I found it in my husband's tool box. I do a lot of canning of vegetables and fruit in the summer and these are GREAT for writing on the jar lids. And it also erases off easily with a Mr. Clean eraser. I've ordered the green color and they don't show up as well as the black marker. So if you need amarker that writes thin lines this is perfect.

Works great!
I wish I had the Deep Hole Permanent Marker years ago. It has a belt loop so it fits perfectly on my Veto Pro Pac Tool Bag. It's secure and the marker will not fall out. Always there when I need it.

Gotta have it in the tool bag.
Get one now. In fact, get two. Super handy. Can’t believe I didn’t have this sooner.

Do your research and take your time
So far works ok. Sometimes the pen sticks a bit too much. The marker had a real crisp clean line in the first few weeks. The marker is a bit mushy now but still runs well to mark out.

Awesome pen
I use these for marking lumber when I do some tests at work. The ink is easy to apply, it doesn't smudge or run, and stays visible. Better than a sharpie or a ballpoint pen

Why didn't I have one of these before?
So great for marking deep holes. Red is so much easier to see under light glare too. A+

Got the job done, but too fragile for the cost.
The felt tip on this marker broke off the first time I used it to transfer a screw hole to a cardboard template. After sticking it back together with some glue, it worked fine. I would have preferred a little more reinforcement (maybe a metal sleeve) on the tip, but it did get the job done in the end.

Where have you been all my life
This simple but well thought out design is so useful!!! I bought it for a very large project I had to work on and I was beyond impressed with its ability to mark holes I needed to drill out that I would not normally have been able to do. 5 stars all the way.

The tool I've been searching for for years!
This is very handy for anyone who needs to mark holes for drilling. It has a long narrow tip that easily fits in holes for marking material underneath. Very useful, much better than using a punch
