Smart Plug WiFi Outlet Remote Control Anywhere, YAGALA Mini Plugs Compatible with Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT, Wireless Timer Socket, No Hub Required (1 Pack)

Over the past year we have purchased or obtained quite a lot of these plugs and seem to have largely automated every plug socket in our house to control a variety of items either via a dedicated app, or increasingly, via Amazon Alexa. I purchased these 4 plugs as they are able to be controlled via an app or Alexa.Out of the box, there are 4 standard plugs and a set of instructions: the instructions can be followed but require a good sense of humour and pragmatism. The process for installation is to install an app on your android or apple device, but not an Amazon Fire - we have all three devices and opted for standard Android set-up. Downloading the app was simple enough and I opted for an email verification code to be sent before we could configure the plugs. I opted for email and waited and waited.......finally I re-applied for a code sent via SMS, which duly arrived and I commenced st-up. After at least 4 attempts for each plug, with them continually not being recognised, or recognised and them dropped out again, I finally had all 4 plugs connected to our network. The manufacturer suggests, as they all do, to have your device, router and plug as close together as possible, which I did, but to no avail.Alexa struggled to find the plugs at first, but eventually we did get there and after 24 hours and a few switch on/off, I can confirm that the plugs are working and respond to the app or Alexa consistently.SO they are working, why then only three stars? Basically the app is quite clumsy, set-up was not smooth and it took far to long to get the wi-fi to recognise each plug and then, for some inexplicable reason, lost the connection. Once set-up again though, they have remained securely connected and work; suggesting that there is a flaw in the initial set-up and it is very much hit and miss and if you are successful, connection is robust, if not try again. It just took far too long and I suggest for those purchasers who couldn't install and configure them, they might just return them. Similar situation pairing them with Alexa. It was straight forward to undertake the pairing, but it took more than one attempt.Build quality seems good, they run cool and I am sure will give us years of service, however, the app needs sorting.UPDATE=======We have one plug which is now unresponsive to Alexa. It is within the same group, which all respond to the same command and yet this one, which has sufficient signal fails to respond. Just reconfigured it and it is working again. I plan to change the location tomorrow to see if that helps, but as it is less than 4 metres from the router and in a direct line of sight, I can't see why it doesn't work consistently.

We followed the booklet instructions fiddling with it for half an hour but it wasn't working so we tried doing the exact opposite of what it said (instead of fast blinking we reset it and conencted it when slow blinking) and it worked! Basically, ignore the instruction booklet.Then fiddled again to connect it to Google, worked for 10 minutes then stopped and haven't reset it since to try again but still works on the app just fine! Don't expect it to be easy but they do work - I guess you get what you pay for but they feel like decent quality 🙂

Fabulous, we really love these smart sockets.Easy to set up once we realised we had to reset our broadband hub to revert from GS 5 to GS 2 setting initially until the socket was recognised, then reverted it to dual setting. Once we did this, it connected immediately and we've had no issues with our broadband connection....We purchased another smart socket (exactly the same) and it connected as soon as we plugged it in and added it to the eFamilyCloud app as well as our Alexa app.Now we can switch both sockets on and off at will when we're away from home which we feel is an additional security to timing devices as it means the pattern isn't completely regular.We haven't tested the timer functionality.Wish we had bought two in the beginning but - my other half thought he knew better ;-)

Purchased these to use with Amazon echo to control items around the home. I followed the instructions to download the app and add the devices in it, this is where I hit a slight stumbling block. When trying to connect the plugs to the WiFi network it would initially connect then fail to connect, I discovered that as I have a dual band Sky Hub it transmits on both 2.4 and 5ghzs channels. In order to get the sockets to connect with the hub I had to go into the hub settings and temporarily suspend the 5ghzs channel, this immediately allowed me to connect the socket to the hub. Once I set the sockets up I then turned the 5ghzs channel back on and all sockets are working perfectly. Very pleased once I got to the bottom of the issue.

Despite having previously successfully set up an identical pair with an my android phone this time they were not detected by the app. After many failed attempts I tried my wife’s iPhone with instant success. Maybe it just works ;=). Reliability wise all I can say is that the original pair are still working after several years.

I got this Black Friday in a lightning deal so really good value. Hooked them up to Christmas tree lights and outside lights then arranged a dual operation in alexa “turn off Christmas lights” so that she could turn off both at the same time. Saved no end of fuss not having to go out to the cold garage each night to turn off the outside lights (the plug was not outside) and not having to rummage around under the tree / presents to find the tree light plug. Now using for other plug in lights around the house it’s great

Whilst these plugs do need a separate app to set them up, once that's installed the Amazon integration works perfectly. Much cheaper than a lot of other offerings they still function well and I have had no issues with them. I have replaced the disparate puugs in the house with these and will buy more when I need to add to the control system. Already recommended them to friends.

While I do have some reservations about using Chinese IOT products from a security perspective; from a value / functionality point of view these are fantastic.If you're worried about security then I strongly suggest you connect these (and your Amazon Echo and other IOT devices) to your guest network and use unique passwords / usernames etc when registering your details on the eFamily Cloud app
