You do need the knife blade to cut leather.

You sent me the wrong tip. it should have been an engraving but it is a debossing. i didn't know until i went to use it. what can i do?

I had the same problem I ordered one of each and they sent me 2 of the same tip, I had to buy the right one again and send the wrong one back then they gave me a refund.

Is this something I can use for magnets?

It can be used on soft metals but it doesn't mention magnets. I suggest you call Cricut Customer Service Phone Number at 1 (877) 727-4288 and ask them.

Do you have to buy separate housing for every tip I buy for the cricut maker?

Perfect fit for Maker 3. Engraving comes out clear.

This cricut engraving tip and quick swap housing fit perfectly in my Maker 3 machine. This engraving tip works very well (make sure you read the instructions and make sure you are using the correct thickness for your selected material). I have been practicing with acrylic and my practice pieces have been turning out great! I recommend!

Thrilled over this find

I have an Air Explorer 2 & they do not have the engraving option. This tip works with my Explorer & I've been engraving Christmas ornaments with it. The directions comes with the tip to tell you how to load it & what settings to use. So easy to use. The results from using the tool & the price are amazing! I am thrilled over this find!
