20 oz water bottle is impossible to drink from. Is there a secret to sucking up from the straw?

i know this is an older question but sometimes if the straw isnt screwed on correctly or one of those connecting parts isnt aligned, it is impossible to drink from. the newer models seem to be cut more precisely so this doesnt happen as much because i have used these bottles for several years and tried a few different variations.
