Microbe-Lift Barley Straw Pellets + - 4.4 lb

I am always skeptical about these kinds of products as water clarifiers, especially after using a different liquid product works if you use just the right amount but the gunk really clogs the filters and if you put in too much it makes clarity worse so don't buy that stuff. so decided to try this after reading the reviews. I was amazed - it works great and now my water is much clearer after only 2-3 days. can see to the bottom and see the koi which I couldn't before. used the heavier dose recommended and put some under the filter's water return, some in the waterfall which acted sort of time released as it clogged into a lump but then slowly released over time. and a third patch by the other aerator. what a difference. definitely buy this stuff if you have a small koi pond type thing with clarity problems. forget those expensive liquid "water clarifiers". they turn into glue.

This is an essential item to add to compost especially if you have worms in your compost.

I don't understand why the product only came in a clear Ziploc bag in a unmarked box. There were no instructions, or product details just a clear Ziploc bag containing the barley pellets or some kind of pellets. There really is no way to tell what the clear unmarked bag contained. I am very unhappy with this purchase. To make things worse, the Ziploc bag was not closed properly so when I removed the bag from the box the pellets spilled out in the lawn. The advertisement for the barley pellets instruct purchasers to read the containers label to determine the amount of pellets to use depending how many gallons your pond is... Well I can't do that because all I have is a clear Ziploc bag and a good amount of pellets laying in the yard!

So far, I am extremely happy with this product. One minor area of dissatisfaction is the color, as the bottom of our small, above-ground fountain is black. This product probably saves us over $100 a year on algae treatment. Great product.

Took about 2 weeks but it worked amazing !! I have a 4,000 gallon pond and had gotten fish and plants but couldn’t get rid of the green..... this did it...... selling my home and leaving a note to buyers about this product !!! Super impressed ! Love that it is natural and won’t harm my fish or the birds that drink and bathe in my pond or my dogs and cats that drink from it as well

Not entirely sure what should be expected of the product in what time frame, bu thus far (about a month) haven't noticed anything different in our pond.

I have two ponds with a stream joining them together, totaling 3,500 gallons. I have tried so many products over the years, but read about barley pellets and decided to try it. I bought a box of Leggs knee highs, filled 3 of them with the barley pellets and tied a knot at the top. I put them in the pond at first, but eventually took them out and put them in the FilterFalls, which is at the top of the water fall. All water passes thru the FilterFalls and my water has been clear for almost a month. I'm getting ready to order more today, not because it's stopped working, but we're going to have some 100+ days and I want to make sure the barley pellets are fresh and ready to work. It works for me and I love it!!

Pellets are easier to use than the straw bales and they clear the water quickly. I just used an onion bag and poured about two cups of pellets into the bag and then placed it between two filter pads and viola! My pond was totally clear in two days.

Product was as described, however it didn't help my pond at all sadly.I don't think it was an issue with this product.

I only gave this product a 4 star rating because there is nothing included in the bag to put the pellets in. I improvised and used panty hose, half a bag in each leg. Cut the top off the legs and tied it in a knot, leaving room for the pellets to expand. Then weighted them down with a rock in the pond. Yes, I would recommend this product. It does take a couple weeks for the water to become clear.
