In summary, these hinges are very sturdy with a very good amount of adjustability in the spring tension. My friends purchased a funky Geodesic Dome home and commissioned me to build a custom half door to block their dogs from going up to the third floor. I used these spring loaded hinges instead of using a conventional door handle to keep the door closed. You can vary the spring load to match the door weight. I loaded the springs with the least amount of tension and they worked perfectly. The hinges came with a number of different installation screws all of which seemed too short for me so I ended up using longer screws, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars for sturdiness. Otherwise, they are tough, tough, tough hinges. (Don't mind the picture of my leg in the short video included.)

I love these things! I installed two hinges (top and bottom) on our three-hinge front door, and left the original middle hinge alone. They were super easy to install, and the only comment I have about that is that the radius of the hinges was a little bigger than the radius on the original hinges, which slightly affected the door closure (it bumped into the door jam), so I took the top hinge off and sanded down the area of the door jam it screwed to (essentially just pulling the door closer to the hinge side) and it works like a dream. This is likely a problem specific to our door, as it already had a bit of a sticky closure. They’re very easy to adjust, so that the tension is just right. My kids kept leaving the front door open, and now they can’t. I’m thrilled!

We’d ordered other hinges first but they didn’t fit our old doors. These fit! And they work as we’d hoped. We used one hinge on a door that goes into our garage that often got let open, and another hinge on our patio door that also never seemed to want to close. These doors now close gently, and all the way, without shaking the windows. Would buy again if the need ever arises.

Sturdy and adjustable, they do the job well. One note: they're thicker and bulkier than standard hinges, as a first-time installer I had to do some mortise work to get them seated properly. Worth it for the price, just know what you're getting into

They were the correct size and I was able to easily replace the old hinges. The included tools for setting the tension were well made and strong enough to wind the spring tight enough to close the door.

Hinges just as described, instructions were easy. I replaced the standard hinges on the solid door from our laundry room to the garage. Question is…. Why didn’t I do it sooner

Solid hinges but I had trouble getting the pins that hold the tension spring settings installed as the instructions say. I ended up adapting the pin by grinding the head off. It works but it will be very hard to readjust the tension if needed.
