Used these for the same Japanese-style dinner and they were perfect. The natural seagrass and woven rattan look really elevated the table setting and gave it an authentic feel. The quality is excellent - they're sturdy and well-made, not flimsy like some cheaper placemats. The 17" x 12" size worked great for our place settings, thick feeling, and they laid flat without curling at the edges. They clean up easily too, which is a bonus. For the price, getting 8 high-quality placemats is a fantastic deal. These would work just as well for everyday use or other themed dinners. Highly recommend.

These are beautiful! They are elegant yet not formal. Some placemats like these are too thick but these are perfect and of good quality.

This is a six pack. The wicker is reinforced with a sturdy wire edge woven very tightly and nice , not a flaky wicker. I’m happy I bought these for a BoHo casual setting

I got these because I wanted natural material placemats for daily use, and not something pricey. The placemats are sturdy, good size but I wish they were a tiny bit refined, there are few raw edges but thats ok. They are easy to clean, I've spot treated food stains with water and hand soap, and they were ok, didn't sag or get discolored.

Pleased with these. They attractive and I don’t think they look cheap. Bought in lieu of some others I saw in a store somewhat similar to these although not the same, but those were over $20 each and I like these just the same or more.

These mats are ideal if you want something natural and anti-plastic. They are obviously hand made. Good workmanship. They are woven on a metal frame and so lie flat on the table. Recommended.

Only issue is a greenish hue.

Well, I am very happy with these, it is good to know that their thickness is thinner than it appears online. The edges have a metal frame, but the interior is just one layer of thin material. They look great on the table, though.

Brilliant size to fit your dinner and a drink. Great for protect the table from hot pans too. Look cool. I usually tap them to clean the crumbs out and give them a wipe.

So far so good, it comes delivered flat (not rolled) as the weaving is thick and as others have mentioned, has a thick metal wiring inside, all around the mat. The only thing I imagine happens overtime is the fraying of the natural material which, lets be honest, if you are looking at this item, its because you don't like the plastic or vinyl non-recyclable/renewable options. This is natural, looks nice, fits my vibe.
