Yes they are reusable. I have washed mine several times. I purchased these because I need moisturizer on my heels overnight, but hate wearing socks to bed. I apply my own moisturizer (vaseline usually) as the gel inside is not heavy duty, and I guess because there is nothing covering my toes it doesn't feel as though I'm wearing socks. I'm very happy with them.

Q: Approximately how many uses per pair of socks?

It depends on how you wash them. If you wash by hand or in a garment bag and lay out to dry, they last dozens and dozens of uses. If you toss in to washer and dryer with other clothes, the heat will cause the socks to unravel. The strings then wrap all around the clothes. Learned that one on accident!

Q: Can these be worn around barefoot for a few hours? After work in the summer I never wear socks on my carpeted floors, too hot!

I have. I'm on my feet all the time at work & when. Get home I need that break too. I don't think I would do all the time but once in a while should be OK. There are other heel covers that only cover the heel which seem sturdier.
