How do you fully open the snack cup ? I can't get the lid off!

Twist the top part it comes off so the handle is part of the lid. Use the handle as leverage to open it and twist. Remember righty tighty lefty Loosey

Can this be used without the inside flaps? Ie are they detachable?

No they are not detachable and it’s best they are there , in case ur kid spills the contents . These flaps are super soft and my kid absolutely loves it . Hope this helps
