We bought this iron specifically for working on foiled stained glass. It is good for that, but there are better. Perhaps with a larger collar and heavier tips (with greater heat capacity) it would be as perfect as can be for that.But...it's brilliant for electronics.The digital temperature control is very convenient and easy to use, the set of tips are good for everything from heavy duty components down to super fine pins. The temperature range has you covered for different solder types and heat conduction of your work.It has all the convenience and finesse of the digital soldering iron that is part of my hot-air station, but is so much more portable and convenient.Love it! Highly recommended!

Everything is great! But it works too well...the tip has fused to the heating element which caused me to return the iron & get refunded. It gets too hot too quick and over a dozen times heating and cooling it causes the metal of the tip to expand and contract thus ultimately becoming pinched onto the heating element....if you have this item make sure to keep the temp down to 250*-300*C when turning on or try to not keep it up to max temps over time periods of 15min+, then it may save you from headaches and damage to your iron thus continuing usage.

UPDATE May 15, 2021: Yihua Official reached out via email offering their apologies for my negative experience. They offered tips and tricks as how to best use a "larger thermal mass" soldering iron. While I appreciate the advise, I wouldn't be searching for and purchasing such an iron with larger tips and the wattage to use said tips if I didn't know the whats and whys for such things. In addition, they offered to send me another soldering iron with extra replacement tips for my troubles. I did not take their offer. I'm not inclined to nor do I have the time to take another try at what is most likely a 50/50 chance of yet another failure. I appreciate the gesture but I've already cut my losses and moved on. But kudos to Yihua for trying to make good on their product. Unfortunately, I've moved on to another brand iron that continues to work even after soldering near two dozen XT90 connectors with stranded 14 gauge silicon wires.-----Like others have reported, this iron works great this first few times. Working on my 5th battery pack and unfortunately it doesn't get hot enough to solder leadfree solder anymore. Mind you, I'm soldering the connectors to the battery pack. The pack themselves are assembled using spot welding nickel strip. Thought by having a 110w peak would allow me plenty of elbow room to make leadless soldering a breeze but alas, doesn't get much above 600F now. No Good.

Good basic soldering iron. Heats up quickly. Comes with various tips for basic work. However, if one uses it for stain glass hobby work, one will need to order the proper tips for it. YIHUA #1300 Type-6D fit and work very well.

better than I expected! great beginner rig for fair price

This is hands down the best portable soldering iron I've bought.With 43 years experience as an electronics technician I'm pretty sure I'm qaulified to make this claim.It's comfortable to hold while soldering.The display is easy to read and makes tempature adjustments easy.The on handle on/off switch is an item that should be on all soldering irons.I keep mine in the box it came with that I covered West System resin to make it solid and to last for years as I take it with me on service calls.I put velcro on the flaps to keep it closed.

Not for stained glass. The iron does not stay at a consistent temp to melt lead reliabley.I think this would be great for tech and I am going to keep it for that, but this was not designed for stained glass in mind.

Needed a smallish sized iron to use at the track when I race my RC car. This one fit the bill perfectly. Packs nice, great price, and most importantly heats very very well. I chose this model because it has an on/off switch, which makes it safe when plugged in on the work bench. Highly recommended.
