Good product
I got a bag of this and also the Stubbs natural briquettes. See my review on the Stubbs. As far as the Duraflame, they do impart a great flavor to steaks and burgers. I use one of those Weber chimney starters and within 12 to 15 minutes, you have some really hot briquettes to cook with. Try a bag and see what you think. I've used some other cheapies that I got at the local food store, but they have a petroleum undertone that I do not like. I did detect a tiny bit of this undertone with the Duraflames, but that's only because I compared it to the Stubbs naturals. It is not at all offensive and you probably won't even detect it. Remember, I was really compairing these two in a taste test where I had identical burgers cooked similarly on both brands. That is where I could just pick up a "hint" of a petrolium undertone to the charcoal taste. I will be ordering this again as it is a fine product and does light easily in one of those chimneys. Light it any other way will take some time and patience, but that is true of any briquette. Buy a bag today and see for yourself.

Used Kingsford and didnt like the ash too much ash
Used Kingsford and didnt like the ash too much ash. Nonetheless bought these the last two years and they are good. Ash is much lower volume than others and burns more clean. I can get a bag from Tru-Value for less than half the price here with tax but suffer a 3-8 business day shipping schedule. If you can order ahead you will get twice as much there for the same price. If you need in a pinch then come here. I have the 18.5 so i use this the lump is too much and irregular for the smaller kettle and these briquettes are just right for the job.

Ok
Burned good and hot , lasted a long time but flavor was really lacking. I was suprised, You will need to add some type of wood chips to get a nice smoky flavor. Seemed to be very clean and well made.

Great Hardwood Briquets
These briquets light easily, but I don't think they last any longer or burn hotter than normal charcoal. However, the flavor produced is definitely better than normal charcoal. I would use these again in the future.

Need Lighter Fluid
I bought these to save time at the store. We used them for 4th of July and had to go to the store to get lighter fluid :(

THE BEST HEAT FOR MY HOOKAH AND BBRQ
I TRY ABOUT ALL CRARCOAL OVER 10 BRANDS AND I FOUNT COCONUT CHARCOAL'S - DURAFLAME AND NATURE'S HARDWOOD 2 BE THE BEST. NO PETROLEUM OR ANY KIND OF BEST SMELLSTART EASY AND THE LAST ABOUT THE SAME. COCONUT IS DOUBLE THE PRICE SO....

Not satisfied at all
I gave up and ended up pouring lighter fluid over the briquettes, which defeated the whole reason for buying these! Do yourself a favor. Save the time and money. Buy charcoal from your neighborhood market instead. If you want non-lighter fluid briquettes, you might want to try another brand, too!

Nice
Buy them all the time. Compressed carbon burns longer than natural. No "coal" in my food like traditional charcoal briquettes. Those who like natural carbon don't loose that distinctive flavor, but I get the benefit of a controlled, long burn.
