Works great at the end of a small run!
Purchased this fan to get warm air from a hallway/main living area into a bedroom on the northeast side of our house. That room has two exterior walls and is always cold in the winter. Our house is heated with hot water baseboards, and this room seems to be on the end of the loop in addition to being on the coldest side of the house.Because framing around the door prohibited me from installing this fan over the door (and there wasn't any other wall available to go directly through), I had to install 8" rigid ducting that went from the hallway, through a cabinet in the adjacent bathroom, and into the bedroom. There's about 36" of ducting total. All connections were made using sheet metal screws and foil backed tape to ensure no warm air leaks into walls - which could lead to condensation and mold/mildew.According to the size/performance chart in the instructions, this fan is for is almost too big for the room (about 100sf). So I use the fan on low and left one small cap and one large cap on, as the directions indicated. I think having additional ducting actually works to my advantage, since the fan's ability to move air is somewhat diminished by having to 'pull' air through that duct. I don't have a traditional install to compare this to, but I will say that the fan is working fantastically for my bedroom. Warm air enters the top of the room and pushes the cold air back into the living area through the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. The fan is plugged into a Lux Win100 thermostat so it turns on only when the thermostat calls for heat. The fan noise is very low, in my opinion. Just gentle white noise.Dings -- Installation instructions. The instructions make it seem like utmost precision is required when cutting holes, but that's not really the case. I wouldn't advise anyone to be purposefully sloppy, but a little a little slop is ok.- More importantly, I was not impressed by the way the inlet cover is supposed to mate to the flanged sheet metal sleeve. It looked like the flange was supposed to mate with the plastic housing, but the sizes don't match. So you're left just kind of 'making it work'. That's not the end of the world, but some kind of snap fit would work much better. I almost took a star off for that, but it's not a performance issue. All in all, this is a fantastic solution since it works great and it's way cheaper than buying and running a space heater.

Great small fan
The fan is the perfect size to replace a fan we have had for years. Perfect size as advertised. Fairly easy to install and works great. Love the two speeds of the fan Fast delivery. Good product

Unsuitable after 1yr
It does the job, but not very well. The noise level was acceptable at first. Something is happening with age, making increasing noise as time progresses, mostly from imbalance vibrations.

Terrific air transfer
I installed this unit between our living room(free standing fireplace) and the master bedroom. When the fireplace is running the bedroom gets a little chilly. The unit does a great job transferring the very warm air(78 - 80 degrees) from the ceiling to the bedroom. I continue to experiment with the various air restrictors to see what works best. The restrictors are easily removed and mounted on either side. While it has two speed settings, I only use the low setting. Our bedroom is around 196 square feet with sloped ceilings. Prior to using the fan the temperature used to be hovering around 66 degrees if the fireplace was running. Now it is in the low 70's. The noise is not too bad....kind of a nice white noise if you like that kind of thing. I am experimenting with the larger restrictor on the outlet side which is supposed to help a bit with reducing the noise. All-in-all, it works great!

Works great to move air from one space to another
Our master walk in closet always smelled musty and there was funky white mold on some of my shoes and purses. We live on the water and unfortunately there's not much we can do to eliminate moisture in our home. Friend suggested louvered closet doors, but I didn't want to give up my full length mirrored doors. This fan sounded like it would work well. We installed some floor vents on the upper part of an adjacent wall so air could move from our bedroom, through the closet, to the kitchen. The fan is plugged into a timer device in the kitchen so it doesn't run 24/7 but it's so quiet we could easily let it run all day. I have an air freshener in the bedroom and I know it's moving air because I can smell the air freshener in the kitchen when the fan is running.

Noisy!
I wanted to use this thru the wall fan to help distribute the heat from the adjacent room where my wood pellet heater sits to the living room. I would say if you are sinsitive to noise this is not for you. On high setting it is very noisy. On low it barely moves any air. We have to turn up the TV volume just to here it over this fan. Also it is too weak to move the heat around. I decided to remove this fan and custom made my own fan using a 200mm computer cooling fan. This setup moves twice the air and super silent to the point I have to look at it to see if it is still on. Also now moves the heat around the house much better. In my opinion I would not recommend this item.

Mounted easy and works well.
It was easy to install and works very well. My only complaint it is a touch loud. It’d be nice if it had a variable setting to slow the fan down
