why does the tooth have a hair stuck...

Hello Jane,I want to congratulate you on being the first to ask what I asked the day the study photos arrived! The subject in the photo was a participant in a Bremerton, WA study conducted by a dental office equipped with an "endoscope". An endoscope is a specialized tool wherein a wand with a tiny camera on the end can be inserted into the gum line to look for tartar in dental pockets. There are only a few dental offices in the US that have them and they are difficult to use. The photo was taken by their Hygienist with a standard camera set up for oral photography. No one saw the hair until the pictures were processed a month or two later. Really too late to do anything about. We have a strict policy about not editing research results, so the hair stayed. So here we are using an office for specialized photography and the standard photography comes back with a hair...go figure...JohnThe Periogen Company

How exactly do you use this product ?

After regular brushing, mix one scoopful powder with half cup of warm water, swish with this mix for a minute. repeat until the mix is finished.

Do you have to mix this together evertime you use it or can you make a bottle of it ahead of time?

Not that I won’t ever go to the dentist again, but can this completely remove built up tartar/calculus with long enough use, without dentistry?

Hello Amazon Customer, We agree with the other posts..while Periogen does a good job of preventing and reducing tartar buildup we strongly recommend an annual dental visit for a number of reasons. Firstly, oral cancer screenings are very important, secondly Periogen works best on tartar buildup under 1 year old and your dental visit will reaffirm how well Periogen is working for you and how well you are using it. Lastly dental visits are not expensive if it is primarily a cleaning. Dentistry however becomes very expensive if you develop Periodontal disease from tartar going below the gum line.
