No other similar product can beat this device for the price!
Using with 3 Terabyte USB hard drive to record video surveillance from IP camera using the built-in Samba/WebDav features. Works great, but you need to update to the latest firmware via the Addonics website and have a compatible USB to esata hard drive enclosure that supports > than 2 Terabyte hard drives. A lot cheaper than investing in a traditional NAS system. The only problem is that is doesn't have the throughput bandwidth to support Windows Image Backup, but Addonics states it supports Acronis software. And they are right, since I have successfully created my Windows 7 system image backup using Acronis software.

Did not like this at all
The instructions are very vague, also incomplete because the Addonics web site has important information that is missing from the box. Basically I have a USB NTFS network shared drive and wanted to get rid of the computer that was sharing it on the network. This is advertised to work with NTFS as most of these devices only work with the older FAT and FAT32 formats. Well, if you already have files on the NTFS drive the software wants to create a new shared folder and you have to move the content of the drive into it, then set all the user permissions for the files, oh but first you need ANOTHER blank, formatted drive such as a USB NTFS flash drive to plug into this device BEFORE you plug in your shared drive so the device can create the proper folder and user permissions THEN transfer all that to the shared drive THEN transfer all your files into the newly created folder. Oops, all this is not explained in the manual, you have to find it on the website first. Don't waste your time and money.

BIT TORRENT CLIENT WAS BROKEN BY THE NEW FIRMWARE. NO PATCH IN SIGHT.
The NAS 3.0 functions mostly as advertised. The latest firmware (ships with the unit now) BREAKS the BIT TORRENT CLIENT. I contacted support regarding the problem and found them slow to respond. I mentioned that I read there was problem with the firmware. This was overlooked in favor of spending the next 4 weeks trying other methods to "fix" the problem. In the end I got the below response, which is frustrating. From Support:"I have started an inquiry about the Torrent problem and it turns out there is a problem with this firmware version having an issue. Unfortunately I don't have a fix for that right now, since the NAS 3.0 is designed to refuse deploying a roll-back firmware, and I haven't turned up any answers on when to expect a new release that fixes the problem."Guess what, that does not "FIX" the problem. It still doesn't support Bit Torrent download. I am hoping for a firmware upgrade to rectify this problem.

Couldn't get it to work for my purpose
I assume that the unit isn't defective, because it will recognize a USB stick. However, it doesn't work with the Seagate USB drive for which I bought it, so the adapter is useless to me. The Seagate drive does show up in the device list, but always with a capacity of 0 bytes.

Doesn't work and will not work
I was mostly impressed by the review in PCMag and decided to buy. Should have read the reviews here at Amazon.I planned to use it with a Western Digital MyBook that I already have. The specs Addonics provide state that "Any USB storage can be attached to the NAS 3.0 for sharing over the LAN" but I Couldn't make it work.At Addonics tech support I got an answer that "a 3TB USB retail drive (one that was packaged for use as USB) isn't likely going to work". They gave some technical reasons and suggested using an Addonics drive that will be compatible. The MyBook by WD is a very common device and I was really disappointed by the discrepancy between the device's description and actual usability.

It works but is some what limited.
This product is some what difficult to configure. However, after a few different attempts I have it working with one drive. I wish that I could use a USB 3.0 WEB HUB and install 3 disc drives. Is that possible?
