How many coats do I need for an epoxy river table mold?

In the fiberglass business we would put 6 coats on. Usually you would put a coat on, wait 20 minutes remove the wax, wait an hour then repeat the process.

Would it be practical to use this product to help release poured epoxy from a malamine mold to minimize damage to the work and to the mold?

Yes you could use it for that but the better option would be the Partall #10 wax.
