Excellent Customer Service
###Update 12/23/2019###We did have trouble with the original product sent to us, keeping the original review below. But we were contacted by Owlet given how unusual the complaint was. They send an additional unit for testing, and we have not been able to replicate the disconnect issue we had earlier. Quite the contrary, it has been smooth sailing with a new sock and base station. What makes this product great is the peace of mind - as a new parent it is hard to sleep not knowing my baby will be ok. With the functioning unit, I go to sleep with the green light indicator knowing he's ok. Also, as a bit of a data nerd, I like being able to see how well he slept during the night, get a sense of how active he is during the day, etc. Now that connectivity is no longer an issue, I can relax a bit and enjoy the time with my baby when he's this young.I am also taken aback by the companies willingness to help with a defective product. For any tech purchase, this is ultimately the best experience I've ever had.###Earlier Review###We got this product for our first born son. I was excited to use it - I knew I would be a paranoid father and having data to understand my new son better was very welcome. I did my research, and Owlet was far and away the best option.I have no idea what all those online reviewers were using, but it is not the product I got. I don’t know where to begin. The most distressing thing is the random way in which the sock disconnects from the base station, even at very close range. And a single disconnect is often fatal - you have to remove the sock, plug it in to the base station, and then see if it connects (I’ve got a 50/50 so far). But in cold weather, your baby will likely be in some kind of clothes with their feet covered, so trying to adjust the sock or take it on and off again can risk waking the baby up.The disconnecting isn’t an occasional thing, it is dominant. Most of the time, the sock does not communicate with the base station. I’ve only had one day - yesterday, where the baste station stayed in contact with the sock for more than two hours at a time. Today, it has not connected at all. What makes this particularly frustrating is that the disconnects all require manual intervention. This isn’t like a normal Bluetooth accessory, where bringing it closer to the base station fixes the problem. Instead, a single disconnect (at least for me) means better luck next time. Why wouldn’t you design this to be able to reconnect? There are other problems, but they are minor. The base station lets out a green (or in my case, disconnected blue) light. Which means if you have it in your bedroom, you will enjoy flashing blue light; the kind most likely to wake you up. The app insists on playing noise both on your phone and on the base station. This tends to upset my wife, so attempts to fix disconnects are always more stressful than they have to be (and always frequent).I am very disappointed in this product. I’m a bit of a geek, I really looked forward to using this to check in on my son, whether as a parent checking on him late at night without disturbing him or just seeing how his sleeping has been for the day. But this is not a solution, just a host of more problems. If you could find a way to reduce noise and light, that would be good. But it is small potatoes compared to the constant disconnecting of the sock. I don’t understand why this is harder to connect than headphones, but here we are.

BEWARE- Showed “normal” readings when not on baby!
As first time parents, after some thinking we decided to get this to help put us at ease. First, I ordered the pink as it said it would come sooner than the blue. The shipping was delayed but ok we got it a day later, might as well gotten the blue. We started using it, and only had a few alarms because the base station was on the other side of the house I guess not close enough, no biggie we moved it. Seemed to solve things. However, I was disturbed to find one morning when I took the sock off during a change, fully expecting that the alarm would go off because I was mid change and didn’t have the time to turn it off... Nothing. No alarm, no notice to adjust the sock. I was surprised so I pulled up the app on my phone and refreshed- it said she was wiggling for a moment then reloaded showing a normal BPM and Ox rate... But the sock wasn’t even on her foot!! I was able to recreate this to show my husband multiple times. We were shocked and disappointed to find the app and sock showing normal readings and even updating BPM and Ox in the app, and the base station pulsing green, when the sock was just sitting on the dresser! How scary. Where were these numbers coming from? They clearly weren’t our baby’s stats. This feels like a scam and a very dangerous one.We are so disappointed. We will be reaching out to owlet - hopefully we just got a faulty monitor but we felt like others should know. Proceed with caution.

For $300 this could be better
This sock is great for piece of mind, the 2 problems I've found is that it disconnects easily, our house is only about 1,200sq ft, one level, we can't even have the base in our room (where she sleeps) while we have her in the livingroom winding down, it disconnects... The other weird thing is that the time is off on the app, until midnight the hours arent correct, I'm not sure if it finally refreshes at midnight or what but it's more annoying than anything, at least its still tracking her.Update*** we ended up sending this back. It would randomly burn her foot, burn is a strong word but she had hot spots/red swollen marks where the red light connected to her foot for hours during the day after using it overnight. We used the sock correctly and we washed it every week at least because the plastic would get gross. I wish I would have taken pictures of her foot.

Disappointed
Quite disappointed with this purchase. No matter how I place the sock on my daughter, the alarm for “sock disconnected” or “sock placement” is going off. Also, it will frequently say she is “wriggling” even when she’s not.

Love it!!
I got the owlet for 2 reasons. 1 because my best friend lost her 4 month old son to SIDS and has since became an advocate for owlet and the knoxblocks foundation. I learned so much and heard so many great stories about how the owlet saved the lives of so many sweet babies... and 2 because as a night shift nurse I knew after my baby was born she would be staying over night at my mom and mother-in-law's. I am so thankful to have this monitor because can literally check on her with the touch of a button while I'm at work. When I'm off work, I can sleep peacefully knowing it will notify me if something is wrong. The peace of mind this monitor gives makes it worth every penny! Very satisfied!!!

So helpful for our 2 month early preemie!
We brought our preemie home from the NICU on oxygen and the owlet was a perfect way to monitor her her levels. We tested the smart sock 2 against the hospital grade pulse ox monitor and were very impressed. With our baby having the wireless monitor made our life quite a bit easier when dressing our baby and moving from room to room. When you have a newborn ANYTHING that makes baby care easier is worth it’s weight in gold.
