Great Double Duty Wedge Pillow For Travelers
This pillow is a great value because you can use it in your home as well as when traveling. When going on a trip, fold the pillow and take it with youInitially I bought this to take on a 1 week cruise. I have reflux and need an inclined pillow. I first considered an inflatable, but could not find one that, from the reviews, I felt sure would hold air for the entire time. It is one thing to lose air when you are home and have options, quite another when on a cruise ship with very limited options.Because I had previously bought an InteVision Wedge pillow for use when visiting one of my sons, I knew the quality of their product and my satisfaction with it.I can now say that I am very pleased with this folding wedge pillow and very glad I bought it instead of an inflatable. I will be able to use this pillow with confidence for many years. When you receive the pillow, it will be compressed and in the form of a role. But when you remove the plastic and open it up, the pillow starts to expand. In a hour or so it will be full size and ready to use.The dimensions of the pillow are 7"x26¨x32¨when open,7"x26"x16" when folded. The pillow is well made and well designed. It is composed of 2 pieces of foam held together by a fitted cover made of 100% polyester, medium weight, that is zippered so that each section of foam can be removed to permit the cover to be washed. What enables the pillow to fold is the reinforcement of the cover between the pockets for the 2 sections of foam, which acts like a hinge. The pillow comes with a very nice bag to put it in when folded. The bag is designed so that it looks as though you are carrying a suitcase. Nobody would know what was in the bag from its appearance.I need a pillow more than 7 inches high, but can easily raise the high end using a rolled towel. The 2-piece design of the pillow makes this easier to do than with my solid pillow since only the higher half rises. The lower half remains unchanged. One of the benefits of this is that now I don't slide off the pillow during the night. When I raise the high end of a one-piece pillow the slope of the entire pillow increases, making it more likely that I will slide down the slope during the night.I wondered how I would like the 32" length since previous pillows I have used were not this long, but I find that I prefer it. One reason is that I no longer ever have the low edge of the pillow pressing into my lower back. It is a very comfortable pillow in use.Carrying this pillow when traveling by car should not be problem. You can carry it the car like any other luggage. With respect to air travel, if you are traveling on the larger airplanes rather than the smaller regional jets, you can put it in the overhead bin. It is certainly no larger than many of the bags now being carried on the plane. You may not want to check it in only the bag that comes with pillow, but if you have a large enough bag you can put it in it with other things. This is what I did when flying home after the cruise and it suffered no damage whatsoever. I did, however, have to carry another bag so that I would have with me the things that were removed from the larger bag to make room for the pillow.Based on my experience, I can highly recommend any of the InteVision wedge pillows, including this one. Now that I am home from the cruise, I am continuing to use this wedge pillow. I sleep on it with a pillow and am much more comfortable than I was with my previous wedge.A double-duty wedge pillow, one you can use at home as well as on your travels, is worth having if you have reflux as I do. 2 for the price of 1.

Much better sleep
I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this product, but I'm very glad I did. I am very happy with it. The pillow is soft and comfortable, very easy to sleep on. Most importantly, it has reduced GERD and sleep apnea. I have used the pillow for about a week and I am sleeping better and waking up more refreshed. Since using the pillow I have not woken up once in the middle of the night with acid in my throat, thank goodness. I can't say for sure that the apnea is reduced, but I think it might be, since I can't remember waking up gasping as I had before. I had tried a mouth-guard for the apnea before but it did not work. So overall, very pleased given the comfort, effectiveness, and cost. I removed a star because I feel like this won't last very long. It's only been a short while and it already seems to be compressing. I think I will buy the pricier, non-travel version if this goes now that I know it works.Update 7/2016 - I've been using this wedge for over 8 months. Still in great condition after nightly use so star added. Would not be without it. Just ordered a new (blue) cover for it. Great purchase.

Nice wedge but probably not too durable
Nice wedge pillow, but not exactly perfect. The 2 layer foam is a nice idea but the layers don't really to seem to have that much difference in density. The seam at the fold is slightly annoying, but that's the compromise you get with a foldable design. As others have said, the cover zipper is VERY fragile. I snagged it the very first time I tried to zip it up and almost broke it. So yea, very fragile zipper on the case. The case fabric feels nice though. The smell - it is probably the most offensive smelling foam I've ever smelled, but fortunately it isn't strong enough to really bother me. But put my nose up against it and squeeze... yuk. I aired it out for a day before sleeping on it.The cover arrived slightly dirty so while the foam was airing out I hand-washed the cover and drip dried it. I won't ever machine wash this cover because both the fabric and zipper feel way too fragile and the case is a custom shape so finding a replacement is probably not easy and I'd have to custom make my own replacement.Since I probably won't travel with this, I might take a thin layer of memory foam mattress topper and glue or Velcro it to the top, to cover up the seam. As it is the seam hits right across my shoulder blades and is kind of annoying, so a layer bridging that gap might help.I'm not a thin guy, average height and about 190 lbs, and the foam density when brand new seems to be just about right. Not too firm, not too soft. We'll have to see how it holds up long-term. To keep from sliding off the thing at night, I have another cushion under my thighs/knees. I just had back surgery and this arrangement is the most comfortable for me since it avoids direct pressure right on my lower back and tailbone. I think side-sleep with this would be uncomfortable, and I bought it just for sleeping on my back. For someone on a budget, go to a custom car interior shop with the dimensions you want and have them cut a wedge of seat foam... I bet any decent seat refurb shop will have several different foam densities to choose from and could make a dual layer design that would be at least as durable as this one That'll probably be pretty close to this for less money, but you'd have to make your own cover.
