Classical Guitar Pedagogy: A Handbook for Teachers

This books is thorough, and written in a very accessible manner. It contains a wealth of information and helpful insight into learning to properly play classical guitar. It also is a great resource to have as a guitar teacher. I highly recommend this book.I purchased the Kindle edition, afterward I found myself wishing that I'd spent the extra money and gotten the paperback edition. The Kindle edition that I purchased doesn't have the ability to highlight or make notes. It is just a basic version that you can only read. I much prefer the ability to highlight and make notes. If I were to recommend any improvement, it would be for the author/publisher to update the book so that it has full functionality as a Kindle book.

I have read a lot of books on classical guitar pedagogy. Most (the few that exist in the English-speaking world) are written in a dry, academic and technical manner which makes you fall asleep at chapter one. Either that, or there are books that talk about classical guitar pedagogy in such a general manner that you already know everything that it is saying.Let me just summarize my thoughts on this book: You need to get this book if you teach classical guitar for a living, like myself. Anthony Glise has compounded very sophisticated guitar knowledge into a systematic and comprehensive form for us to learn. It has really filled a need in the guitar pedagogy world. Thank you Anthony Glise! All classical guitar instructors around the world owe you a big one for your contribution!

It’s bent and I won’t get another one on time. This was a special gift as my sons college professor wrote it. I’m so disappointed.

Teacher or not, this is a very informative and eye-opening book. There are many things here about which I have never particularly thought or even cared, for that matter. A serious student or teacher of the classic guitar would do well to read this book.

Yeah, this is a great book. I'm not a teacher, but this is priceless information for any student.

Very good book, start with the very basic to complex. Has exercise to help develope the instructions.

Ok it's epic

Excellent book

I've been teaching guitar since 1993. There seems to be less written about guitar pedagogy than piano pedagogy, so it was with interest that I ordered this book. I found it fascinating, and very useful. The author is a highly motivated and experienced teacher who clearly loves his job, and this comes across. Some of the sections were more detailed than I needed (for eg the physiological sections where tendon movement and structure is explored); some sections were more 'obvious' than others; but overall, I realised that my own days as a student had gaps that the book has helped to fill in. Highly recommended.

Good for general reference, and for students.I have used it for my guitar students to take home and look up more information about this instrument.Does not go to much further than being a very good reference book, therefore 4 star.Overall I liked the product.

This book contains much for the guitar teacher, but is also very useful for an advancing player looking for more insight for skill development. Through careful reading and review, the text helps a serious intermediate player to develop a greater understanding of guitar technique etc. - with or without accompanying verbal instruction from a teacher.
