This Muzzle WORKS!
We have three rescued miniature donkeys. One is a 14 year old jenny that was considerably overweight at the time of adoption. Despite our best efforts to keep her weight down, it continued to climb until blood tests revealed she was headed toward laminitis. Our vet explained that a donkey's body is designed to walk long distances for small amounts of food in arid climates and therefore cannot properly metabolize rich midwestern pastures. She also explained that studies show donkeys can (and will) learn to eat as much in a restricted window of time as they would if pastured all day long (kind of like "power eating"). So our vet recommended that we purchase grazing muzzles for two of our three donkeys. After much research we chose the Tough-1 Easy Breathe V Grazing Muzzle and what a HUGE and positive difference that has made! Finally we are seeing a slow, healthy reduction in our donkeys' weight. We even bought a third muzzle for our other donkey so she can enjoy the same extended pasture time without the danger of overeating. As for the muzzle construction, it is everything it's advertised to be. The materials are extremely durable. The size is completely adjustable for a proper and comfortable fit. We chose the "Mini" size for our donkeys and although their heads differ in size / shape, the muzzle fits each one well. My only recommendation is that you get your donkey or horse used to wearing the muzzle gradually and in stages. Taking the advise given in an online article, I placed treats (nutritional balancer kibble) inside the muzzle to get our donkeys used to putting their noses inside as sort of a game. That gave them a reward for trying something they were unsure of and eventually desensitized them to the strange new contraption. Only after reaching that point did I attempt to strap the muzzle on. And once on, I left it there only briefly at first. After a few rounds of practice, the donkeys were used to the muzzles and now they can't wait to have them put on each morning. Additionally, I would recommend checking your equine's muzzle carefully during the first week of use just to be certain it's fitting properly and not causing areas where the skin is being rubbed or irritated. Just can't recommend this product more highly! It has literally been a lifesaver for us!

Good Size For My Mini Mule
I bought this to try and curb the amount of grass my mini mule can eat. She is quick to get sore feet if she is allowed to eat grass non stop. I can tell because she will start walking slower. I bought this to slow her eating down. The size I originally bought (yearling, which is the size of the halter I use for her) was too big but the mini size fits pretty good. I didn't have to change anything about it to make it fit. She does well with this on and has not had any sore feet days since we've put this on her. The only thing I would change is the support where this sits on her nose. It is prone to rub her raw and make a sore there. I bought the velcro fleece things that are supposed to help but they are pretty big for her mini sized muzzle. I didn't put it on because I was worried she would not be able to get enough air with the velcro fleece obscuring part of the nose hole...It is more expensive than the other nylon ones online but the muzzle is pretty heavy duty and not flimsy and has the extra support over the nose to help her not be able to rub it off. I'm really glad we bought this. We even bought an extra one for backup in case she gets it off..

Lasted less than a week
Broke in less than a week of use. The rubber ripped and the stitches holding the front vees also tore. Insanely over priced for how cheaply made it is.

Worked as intended
Fit was okay. Put this on a small horse and it worked but is a little big. I always find these to be to big or to small. I was able to make it fit okay. We will see about durability.

This muzzle allowed my pony to continue going out with our other two horses.
We have a pony that developed laminitis. Our vet suggested she be kept off the pasture for the next two months. When I asked about putting her out with a grazing muzzle he did not give much hope of that working as his experience, and that of many of his clients was that they didn't stay on. Well, after watching her get so upset being left behind by our two horses, I decided to do a little research. I ended up choosing this muzzle and have been so thrilled! Our pasture is very lush so for the good of all the horses, they only go out 4-5 hours a day. Our pony has been out 4-5 hours a day everyday for the past 2 months and the muzzle works perfectly. The only time it came off was her first time out because it wasn't adjusted properly. There are multiple straps for tightening to get the perfect fit. She's used to wearing it now and is happily grazing out with the others. So thankful I decided to give it a try. Well made and well worth the cost!

Good quality but grazing area too large
Nice quality and fit my mini donkey very well. But the grazing hole is rectangular and allowed him to eat way too much. This muzzle is a good option for full time turn out or if founder is not a concern.

Works great for my ponies
Tough 1 grazing muzzles are absolutely the best of any I’ve tried. The older model my other pony is wearing still looks brand new after four summers of use. I was worried the extra straps on this one would cause rubbing on the palominos sensitive skin, but they’re soft and wrap with the shape of her face so there haven’t been any issues. They let in enough grass that my girls literally perk up when they see the muzzles and put their noses in them for me because they know they’re about to be let out of the dry lot. But not so much grass that either of them have foundered when wearing them. I still limit their pasture time to only several hours during the peak of spring, but they can be out 12-16 hours with them later in the spring/summer.

Good Quality
I love this product. My mare broke through the rubber, but only after 2 years of hard wear and tear. Bought another one because it did exactly what it was supposed to. Happy to keep my 20yr old Welsh mare from foundering with her piggy tendencies.

... is because my minitures slip out of these so easy. My horse is no problem but the 2 ...
The only reason I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 is because my minitures slip out of these so easy. My horse is no problem but the 2 minitures get these things off in like 5 minutes, could just be minitures though. Everything else is wonderful, lots of adjustable straps for the perfect fit, no rub lines and the mouth peice is durable.
