Upgrade Your Rope
Life recently changed and as I searched for ways to stay in shape I found an old cheap jump rope in the closet. After 3 weeks of trying, with some moderate success, I realized that the rope I was using was holding me back. I needed a longer, heavier, sturdier rope.I spent a good amount of time comparing reviews. I just got back from a workout with this product.1. The rope is easily adjustable. I am 6'4" and it is a good height for me, but others who are average height will need to adjust. You will need basic tools (phillips screw driver and strong cutters), but you can always ask a handy friend or family member to help.2. The rope is thick, and the handles are large. They work perfectly for me, but if you have small hands or issues with hand/joint pain you may want to take that into consideration.3. The product is made out of good quality plastic. It shows signs of wearing from the first use, but that is to be expected. I would warn people to be careful and not throw this on the ground, the handles would likely easily crack/break or cause gouges out of the plastic that could be painful on your hands.4. The rope is 1.5 pounds, and the weight is in the ROPE.5. The rope performs well, is sturdy, and offers good swing and feedback. You can easily slow down or speed up as you're jumping, and the rope keeps a nice arc even on windy days.6. One reviewer said this left red marks on their legs, I don't see how anyone could do that with this rope without some intention. It does weigh 1.5 pounds though and is fast, so be careful of your surroundings.Overall this is a good purchase and addition to my isolation routine. I wanted a solid $30 option, and this product fit the bill.

Good rope
Ok, an honest and objective review. First off, this is a quality rope. The weight is in the ROPE not the handles. The rope comes lengthy. I'd guess it would work for someone 6-6 or taller. So you have to trim it if you are of avg height. You simply unscrew one of the end caps, use a philips screwdriver to remove the stopper, cut the rope to your desired length, put the stopper back on and use your screwdriver to tighten the screw. The screw seems to bite quite well into the rope so i don't see the stoppers ever loosening. This will make more sense when you get it. Takes maybe 5 minutes. Using the rope--- I'd say using the rope provides roughly 2x the necessary exertion vs an unweighted rope. Ie-1min of jumping would be equivalent to 2min on a regular rope. Jump rope burns lots of calories. However, i struggle with the notion of using this rope for 30min, as some jump rope workouts call for. You'd have to be in phenomenal shape to use this rope for 30min. Rope quality is excellent. I do believe you'd see some wear if using on concrete though any rope is going to see wear on concrete. The handles are decent and rotate fine while jumping so the rope doesn't get twisted. Foam on the handles provides some comfort. Only negative is that the handles do loosen after jumping awhile. Not a deal breaker, just tighten them up during breaks. Overall a nice rope. I can't see spending $80-90 on the crossrope but in fairness haven't used it. I'm sure its nice.

You'll feel it. Oh boy, you'll feel it.
"Oh," I said, foolishly disappointed when I opened the nice box. "It looks and feels so light!"Oh, me. Oh silly me. You feel EVERY single ounce of that pound when it is whirling around you. My arms hate me now, but at least not for long. Wear good sneakers/shoes and leggings; when this snaps against unprotected skin or toes, you WILL feel it.I have very small hands (the smallest size of the Glofit weight gloves are still a little loose on me), but if I use those gloves, I find the handles are fine.Adjusting it was easy. I used a box cutter to carefully cut the rope but I didn't cut off the exact excess. I left quite a bit in the handles, at first. My right arm drifts when I skip (I'm trying to correct that. My right thigh ALSO hates me) so having a longer length than recommended worked better. I went back and easily readjusted. My skipping routine with a lighter rope was 30 seconds on, 10 seconds break, five reps. Then a break of a minute between 4 sets of those reps. That took me nearly 17 minutes. But with this heavier rope, I adjusted to 20 seconds on, 10 seconds break, six reps, and that is overall just over 12 minutes. I want to build up more reps.I love skipping, and I combine it with yoga, strength training and other cardio. I don't like the gym (esp now during the pandemic) so I'd really recommend adding this if you've been using a lighter rope and want some more burn.

Good but Poor Handles
This thick, one-pound, jump rope is good, but it could have been made better. The rope itself is thick and looks like it will last for quite some time. However, the handles are bulky and poorly designed, making it hard to jump rope with consistency and place my wrists in a problematic position that may cause injury. The only way I can jump rope properly without possibly injuring my wrists, is if I place my hands at the base of the handles. In other words, my hands cover the bulky handles, allowing me to jump rope with consistency. If the handles were made the same size as the rope itself, it would have been perfect: the rope would flow with fluidity, but that's not the case. The bulky handles make the rotation difficult and place the wrists in a compromising position, because the rotation of the rope is unnatural, which causes your wrists to move in an unnatural motion as well. Moreover, the rope is held together by a small screw and when jump roping begins, it moves around in an unstable manner.I've had many jump ropes, and these handles are by far the worst I've ever seen. The jump rope is good enough for the price, but would I recommend it? No. There are many jump ropes out there that are designed better and have great stable handles that don't irritate the wrists and jump-roping motion.I was planning on keeping it; however, after working out with it for two days, I had enough and I am returning it and buying a different one-pound jump rope with better handles.

Easy to adjust, heavily weighted rope.
Some people said it was hard to adjust. It's not, it comes with instructions. Unscrewing is easy. It's easier to open this than most anything. You can push about 6 inches of excess rope into the handles and then any additional can be cut off. I cut it off with Dollar Store Betty Crocker (free ad for Betty C., pls send a cheque) scissors, again not hard to do. I cut through on the first attempt.I gave it 3 for lightweight because it shouldn't be lightweight. In terms of heaviness of rope though and the purpose of this rope, it should be 5 for heaviness. I mix this in with intervals with a speed rope and this definitely works you out differently.I gave it a 5 for durability but because I'm used to small speed rope handles where these are large and hollow, which is necessary for the thick rope. I worry that continuous dropping of the handles may result in cracking. I believe with the padding and some duct tape you could remedy this. So 5 for durability at this time.I gave it a 4 for beginners because it's a heavy rope and even though I could do speed rope for 30-50 minutes no problem, the first couple days of doing 1 minute intervals with this would burn me out. I was not enjoying it. After 4 days though I do like it. Some people think that a heavy rope is better for beginners because you get more feedback but I think that they're just too heavy.Overall I am so far happy with this rope.

For Beginners and Experienced
Great skipping rope for beginners, helps with form and technique. Durable and you can adjust length. Definitely works several muscle groups, I believe that is why it can be used also for cross-fit also. Even after 2 or 3 minutes of continuous skipping you can feel your shoulders and upper back are involved.

Buena cuerda, pero difícil de usar
Es buena cuerda, buenos materiales, pero sí se enreda un poco y no giran tan bien los mangos, por lo que es complicado usarla. Su peso es bueno y se siente cómo ejercita
